Yoann Gourcuff

Yoann Miguel Gourcuff is a French international footballer who is an attacking midfielder for French club Olympique Lyonnais in Ligue 1. Described as one of the best French players of his generation, he diversifies as a withdrawn striker, a skilled playmaker and an accomplished passer of the ball. His playing skills and dexterity have drawn comparisons to the French legend Zinedine Zidane. Yoann started with FC Lorient, of Ligue 1 and in 2001, proved to be his father, Christian Gourcuff's, son by joining the Rennes. He advanced through the youth ranks quite easily and made it to the senior team. His individual achievement made him a fan favorite and a hot commodity among the club scouts that subsequently led him to join Italian club AC Milan. UNFP Ligue 1 Player of the Year award and French Player of the Year for the 2009 calendar year are a few other honours in his kitty. In August 2010, he joined Olympique Lyonnais on a five-year contract.
