Donna Ongsiako, a Colts Neck mother-of-one, was repeatedly stabbed after a violent home invasion by an intruder she later described appeared to be not older than a teenager. Fortunately, she survived the vicious attack from July 2013 to be able to tell the tale by herself. She later claimed that while "bleeding to death," she called 911 and survived the incident.

A local 16-year-old boy, Brennan Doyle, was eventually identified as the suspect using Ongsiako's accounts as well as those of multiple witnesses who claimed to have spotted him at a nearby Taco Bell that same night.

A subsequent investigation found DNA evidence that was used to implicate, arrest, and charge him of the crime. He eventually pleaded guilty.

An upcoming episode of CBS' 48 Hours, titled A Stabbing in Colts Neck, is slated to chornicle Donna Ongsiako's stabbing incident about a decade later. The episode will air on the channel this Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 10:00 pm ET.

The synopsis states:

"A woman outwits a young stranger who attacked her in her own home. What will it take to find him? "48 Hours" contributor Jim Axelrod reports."

A stolen car covered in blood, and 4 other key facts in Donna Ongsiako's stabbing case

1) Ongsiako attempted to stop the intruder from entering her house

Donna Ongsiako was home alone on the night of July 7, 2013, while her adult daughter Kiersten was attending a party, when she thought she heard scratching at the door of her remote farmhouse in Colts Neck, New Jersey. At first, she thought it was her cat trying to enter the house.

So, she went downstairs to let it in and instead, spotted a knife-wielding stranger outside attempting to cut her screen door. Upon spotting the strange figure, she instantly tried to slam the door shut, but the person forced his way inside by inserting a knife through the aperture and cutting her finger.

2) The intruder took her car keys and purse before delivering a final stab to the chest

According to CBS, after pushing his way into Donna Ongsiako's house, the intruder, who looked no older than 17, repeatedly stabbed the mother-of-one until she collapsed on the floor before deciding to ask her for her car keys and a lighter.

Ongsiako then pointed him towards the kitchen table, from where he took both items along with her purse.

However, before leaving the house, he came over to Ongsiako as she lay bleeding, stepped over her, called her a "dead b*tch," stabbed her one final time in the chest before walking out of the remote farmhouse.

3) Donna Ongsiako provided police with her attacker's description and survived the incident

Ongsiako called 911 after crawling her way upstairs to reach her phone. During the call, at first, she described her attacker in detail, mentioning that he was a male who appeared to be 17 years old and had long, blond, curly hair, and was carrying a backpack.

She also gave them the exact location of the crime before losing consciousness. She reportedly said:

"I spoke clearly and calmly so they knew who I was and where to find my body."

First responders were soon on their way and she was taken to the hospital, where she underwent more than seven hours of surgery to stabilize her condition and give her the best chance of surviving.

Shortly after the incident, authorities received a major breakthrough via a tip from a Taco Bell located five miles from her house. Staff members claimed that they spotted a young, blond man banging on windows while carrying a knife as he passed through their drive-thru.

Moreover, Ongsiako's stolen car was also found near a movie theater. The car was reportedly covered in blood, which would later prove consequential to the case.

4) Using a sketch and another tip, authorities linked a local teen, Brennan Doyle, to the crime

Authorities managed to make a sketch of a potential suspect in two days with the help of a Taco Bell customer, who was one of the witnesses to have spotted the alleged attacker on the night the incident occurred.

The sketch helped police secure another tip which led them to 16-year-old Brennan Doyle after six additional days. The tipster also claimed that Doyle had recently cut his long "skater"-style hair short and resided not far from Donna Ongsiako's home.

5) Doyle claimed he was under the influence of "magic" mushroom when he attacked Donna Ongsiako

The investigation got stretched for a few months until employees at a bowling alley in the mall where Ongsiako's car was found found a knife on their roof, which was identical to the one found at Brennan Doyle's house by authorities. His DNA also matched the one found in Ongsiako's car.

Doyle was arrested and charged in October. He pleaded not guilty and claimed to have been under the influence of hallucinogenic "magic" mushrooms at the time of the crime.

Later, in August 2015, he accepted a plea deal and pleaded guilty to attempted murder and carjacking, receiving 15 years in prison.
