A disturbing TikTok video was shared a week ago claiming that Taylor Swift passed away in a car crash. The video was posted by the account @taylor.fan17 which showed photos of Swift from her recent Eras Tour concerts while a male voice was narrating the news. The post claimed that the singer was leaving her show in Atlanta when her car was hit by an unnamed man. It also claimed that the man was taken into custody and was awaiting court trial for the crime.

However, the rumors were debunked as Swift finished the Nashville leg of her Era Tour only two days ago, on May 7, 2023. The You Belong With Me singer also posted pictures from the concert on Instagram on May 8, 2023. So, it is safe to say that the singer is alive and well.

While Swifties didn't believe the death hoax shared by the TikToker, they were furious about the person sharing lies about the singer who was very much alive.

Taylor Swift's fans condemned the death hoax

While some users who weren't as acquainted with the singer and her tour were confused, her fans clarified the confusion for them. Some even sarcastically wrote that it was ironic how the video claimed that Taylor Swift was dead but they just saw her performance in Nashville two days ago.

Some Swifties were so outraged about the rumor that they asked the person who created the video to be punished by law for making up the lie. Needless to say, the hoax did not sit right with netizens and they criticized the creator of the video.

Taylor Swift's fans recently died in a car crash

Although the singer is alive and well, one of her fans did end up dying very recently. Swift's fan, a 20-year-old name Jacob Lewis died in a hit-and-run car crash while driving back from Taylor Swift's concert at Houston’s NRG Stadium on April 22.

According to Houston police, Lewis was with his sister when their car suddenly stopped working on the Southwest Freeway, early morning on Saturday. Jacob got out of his car so he could push it while his elder sister sat behind the wheel.

However, that was when a 34-year-old alleged drunk driver slammed into Jacob Lewis and their car from behind.

Lewis’s sister, who witnessed her brother’s death told ABC 13 that she immediately got out of the car and called 911. However, her brother was pronounced dead on the spot. The driver was identified as Alan Bryant Hayes and he reportedly had a history of driving under the influence of alcohol. Police said that he fled the scene in his black Volkswagen Beetle.

A witness of the crash, who was driving a tow truck, followed Alan to the 4500 block of Caroline Street where the drunk driver left his car and ran off on foot. Houston police later got hold of Alan and arrested him.

He was also taken to an area hospital to get his minor injuries treated. Alan Bryant Hayes was charged with felony driving under the influence of a substance and for failing to stop and render aid. He was booked in jail on a $90,000 bond.

However, Jacob wasn't the only Taylor Swift fan who recently lost his life. Nearly a month ago, on April 1, 2023, Carlie Cumpton shared the news of her best friend’s death on TikTok. Carlie said that her friend, whose name was also Taylor, was supposed to join her to go see Swift’s concert in Tampa, Florida. However, she died in a fatal car accident on March 22.

While there may be rumors swirling about Taylor Swift's death, the twelve-times Grammy-winning legend is alive and in good health. She is preparing for her the next leg of her tour in Pennsylvania, which will take place in Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field from May 12 to May 14.
