When will The Last of Us season 2 come out?

With season one being just 9 episodes long, the fans of the apocalyptic series are now eager to know when season 2 of the series will be released. Well, fans would unfortunately have to wait for season 2 of The Last of Us for yet another year.

While season 2 of the HBO series was confirmed, the head of HBO drama, Francesca Orci confirmed that season 2 would most likely be released in 2025. Bella Ramsey who plays the lead role in the series, also confirmed that the second season of the series would stream in 2025. According to Deadline, Ramsey said, "It will be a while. I think we’ll probably shoot at the end of this year, the beginning of next. So it’ll probably be the end of 2024, early 2025." The Last of Us Season 2 will begin production in January 2024 in Vancouver, Canada.

Will The Last of Us season 2 be based on “The Last of Us: Part II”?

While fans await the thrilling season 2 of The Last of Us, many would be overjoyed to learn that season 2 of the series would be an adaptation of “The Last of Us: Part II” (the video game sequel). Bella Ramsey who plays Ellie in the series has confirmed the same.

According to Deadline, Bella Ramsey said, “I'm excited for the really intense stuff, because I did a bit of that in Season 1 obviously. And actually more physical scenes because Ellie is obviously more physically fit in Season 2. I love stunt stuff, and like waking up with bruises the next day, and finding myself with a black eye, just because it feels like so good to have done it.”

She also added, “So I'm looking forward to doing that stuff, and also the Dina storyline. Because obviously, I had the one episode in Season 1 with Ellie and Riley, but to have it as a storyline throughout the whole of the second game in terms of Ellie and Dina is really exciting.”
