While Graham played Lorelai in Gilmore Girls, Bledel played her onscreen daughter, Rory Gilmore. The show ran for seven seasons between 2000 and 2007. The duo reunited with the rest of the cast for a spin-off, titled Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. At the 2025 Emmy Awards, Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel introduced themselves at an iconic location from Gilmore Girls - the front porch of Rory and Lorelai's house. Graham said:

"25 years ago, a show called ‘Gilmore Girls’ premiered, and apparently took the season of fall hostage."

Alexis Bledel chimed in with another joke, mentioning that despite their "autumnal dominance", the show did not have a massive budget and started off as a "small show."

"Meaning we had no money. If there was a birthday at ‘The Drew Carey show’ next door, they would send us their leftover sheet cake," Graham added.

The popular mother-daughter duo continued their monologue while taking turns, explaining how they had to wait months to shoot one episode with snow. This is significant, as Gilmore Girls is known for its Christmas special episodes apart from its fall and autumn vibes.

Lauren Graham then mentioned that despite being bullied and hungry, they had "scripts" which made their show so iconic for years. Finally, Bledel and Graham joined hands to present the Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series award to The Studio.

Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel could be seen reuniting once more this year, as a documentary titled Searching for Stars Hollow, focusing on the making of Gilmore Girls and its iconic roster of characters, is on the way. The title is derived from the fictional town, Stars Hollow, where Lorelai and Rory lived for the duration of the show. Other cast members, including Kelly Bishop, Keiko Agena, Chad Michael Murray, and Jared Padalecki, are also set to appear on the documentary.

Over the years, Graham has expressed her interest in returning for a possible spin-off of Gilmore Girls. Irrespective of whether that happens or not, the teen drama will remain one of the most loved shows of television.
