American singer Traci Braxton, sister of Toni and Tamar Braxton, passed away on March 12, after secretly battling cancer.
The deceased 50-year-old's husband, Kevin Surratt, confirmed her death in an official statement stating,
"We have come to a time where we must inform the public that after a year of privately undergoing a series of treatments for esophageal cancer our beloved Traci Braxton has gone on to glory."
Toni also confirmed the news via a post on her Instagram handle. While sharing a monochrome picture of the Braxton sisters, she called Traci "a wonderful daughter, an amazing sister, a loving mother, wife, grandmother and a respected performer."
While speaking to media outlet People Magazine, the singer’s representative said that she was surrounded by her friends and family at the time of her death. Traci Braxton is survived by her husband Surratt and a child.
How old are Traci Braxton's other sisters?
As the third in a family of six, Traci grew up with her older brother Michael Jr. while singing with her sisters Toni, Towanda, Trina, and Tamar from a young age.
In 1980's, the sisters performed together as the musical group, the Braxtons, but could only release one single in 1990's called Good Life before Toni went on to sing solo. The rest of them became backup singers on her first U.S. tour and also starred in her single Seven Whole Days.
Of the sisters, Toni Braxton is the oldest, aged 54. She was followed by Traci, who was 50, Towanda is 48, Trina is 47, and the youngest Tamar is 44.
1) Toni Braxton
Following a brief time at Bowie State University, Toni was approached at a gas station by producer Bill Pettaway Jr.. In the 1980s, Toni and her four sisters began performing together as The Braxtons.
She released her own self-titled solo debut album in 1993, which topped the US Billboard 200 chart. In her career, the 54-year-old has released 10 studio albums and won seven Grammy Awards.

The late Traci Braxton was Toni's younger sister and released her debut solo album in October 2014. She, along with her other siblings, appeared on the 2011 reality show Braxton Family Values. Two years later, The Traci Braxton Show was launched via BLIS.FM radio.
3) Trina Braxton
Trina, one of the famed Braxton sisters, released her first solo song Party or Go Home in March 2012. Trina also co-hosts the Sister Circle talk show, together with Quad Webb-Lunceford, Syleena Johnson, and Rashan Ali.
4) Towanda Braxton
48-year-old Towanda Braxton grew up with her famous family in Severn, Maryland. With experience as a producer as well as an actress, Towanda has been credited for a number of projects, including Misguided Behavior (2017), Merry Wish-Mas (2018), and Envision (2021).
5) Tamar Braxton
Tamar, the youngest of the lot, released her debut solo album in 2000. Between 2013 and 2016, Tamar also hosted the daytime talk show, The Real. In 2019, Tamar won Celebrity Big Brother's second season. On the personal front, she was married to songwriter Vincent Herbert from 2008 to 2019.
As for Traci, her website states that she devoted much of her adult life to social work for children with disabilities and contributed to a wide array of charities that help women and children who face health and societal issues.
