The American animated sitcom The Simpsons stirred speculation about U.S. President Donald Trump’s health after the hashtag 'Trump is Dead' began spreading across X. The trend gained momentum on August 30, 2025, when a video clip, allegedly from the show, went viral online.

The viral clip showed a Trump-like character collapsing from chest pain inside the White House, leading to his death. The narrator in the video claimed that the The Simpsons episode predicting Trump’s death in 2025 had aired more than 15 years ago, but that it was later removed from streaming platforms.

However, according to the official The Simpsons episode list, no such episode ever existed. The Simpsons occasionally featured storylines that mirrored real events, but there was no record of a plot depicting Trump’s collapse or death.

X’s AI chatbot, Grok, also confirmed that the viral clip was fabricated.

"No, it’s not true. The clips claiming The Simpsons predicted Trump’s death in August 2025 are edited fakes or deepfakes, not from actual episodes. Trump is alive and was recently seen golfing. These rumors are unfounded," Grok replied to an X user.

Additionally, the fake Simpsons clip about Trump’s alleged death gained traction because the show has a history of episode plots that later became real events.

One of the most notable predictions came in the March 19, 2000, episode titled Bart to the Future (Season 11 episode 17), where Lisa referenced a "President Trump".

Another example was the 2015 episode titled Trumptastic Voyage, which featured Trump as president after he had already announced his run for the elections.

The fabricated Simpsons clip about Donald Trump’s alleged death was not the only reason why speculations about the U.S. president’s health and hashtags like 'Trump is Dead' began trending widely on social media on August 30, 2025.

As per a Variety report dated July 26, 2025, Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons, made certain remarks about Donald Trump at San Diego Comic-Con.

Speaking at the event, Groening reflected on the show’s longevity, noting:

"I honestly thought (series) 36 was where we were going to end it. No, there’s no end in sight. We’re going to keep going. We’re going to go until somebody dies."

He then made a more pointed remark, alluding to Trump’s controversial presence in the cultural imagination.

"When you-know-who dies, The Simpsons predicts that there will be dancing in the streets. Except President (J.D.) Vance will ban dancing," he joked.

These comments resurfaced recently, contributing to the online frenzy about Trump’s health and adding to the perception that the show had “predicted” another major event.

Speculation also grew after Vice President J.D. Vance addressed Trump’s health in an interview with USA Today on August 27. While aiming to reassure the public, his words about being prepared in the event of a “terrible tragedy” left many unsettled.

"Yes, terrible tragedies happen. But I feel very confident the president of the United States is in good shape, is going to serve out the remainder of his term and do great things for the American people. And if, God forbid, there’s a terrible tragedy, I can’t think of better on-the-job training than what I’ve gotten over the last 200 days," Vance said.

Vance’s comments came after the White House disclosed in July that Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), a condition causing swelling in the legs due to poor circulation. At the time, White House physician Sean Barbabella described it as “benign and common,” citing irritation from frequent handshaking.

However, following this announcement, Trump was also absent from major public events over the weekend, raising more questions.

So the viral Simpsons video, combined with creator Matt Groening’s resurfaced comments, Vice President J.D. Vance’s remarks, and Donald Trump’s health update, led to the recent surge in ‘Trump Is Dead’ hashtags on social media platforms.

Despite the rumors, Donald Trump remains seemingly active on Truth Social, posting frequently. So far, neither the U.S. president nor the White House had issued any official statement or clarification regarding the trending 'Trump Is Dead' hashtag.
