Lil Nas X's father got candid about the rapper's recent arrest after the Grammy winner was spotted roaming around an LA street with no clothes on. While initially speculated that the singer had consumed drugs, tests, per Complex's August 30 reports, confirmed no influence of substances at the time of arrest.In a conversation with The Sunday Times, the rapper's dad, Robert Stafford, said he had gone to meet his son in jail and that he could not help but cry upon his visit. Robert added his son felt remorseful of what had transpired and had a message for his fans:"When I went to visit he asked me to say, 'Tell everybody I'm sorry they saw me like that.'"Lil Nas X's dad further said:"Even in that moment, he was apologizing to people for something he was going through."Lil Nas X's father says his son is remorseful. He was charged with battery and misdemeanor for allegedly attacking an on duty LAPD officer. The Light Again! crooner's bail was set at $75,000.He was released from jail on August 25 after a court appearance the day before where he pleaded not guilty to the charges against him: one count for resisting an executive officer and three counts for battery on a police officer. The presiding judge ordered Lil Nas X to attend four drug rehab meetings a week.The rapper's father was upset as he spoke to The Sunday Times about seeing his son behind the bars."To see my baby boy on the other side of that glass. We shed tears with each other for a minute," Robert said.Robert told the outlet he had offered some words of empathy and encouragement to his son:"'What you're going through is normal. We all have breakdowns every now and then, but the difference is, yours played out in the public eye.'"Lil Nas X's father said the singer would get the required helpBefore Lil Nas X was released from custody, his dad, Robert Stafford told media outlets, including TMZ, on August 25, that his son was going to get the help he needed."He's going to get the help that he needs and just keep him in your prayers. Give him the same grace and mercy that God gives everyone," he said.Robert further said that he shared some tears and laughter with his son while he was held in custody. He told reporters Lil Nas X was "doing mentally great" and was in good spirits, further assuring the artist would be alright.The Old Town Road hitmaker directly addressed his fans via Instagram Stories on August 26. He reassured them, saying:"Your girl is gonna be OK, y'all."The rapper added:"That was terrifying, that was a terrifying last four days."A preliminary hearing for the Atlanta-born musician is slated for September 15, according to an August 25 press release from Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. The rapper might be sentenced to five years in state prison if convicted of the felony charges.
