Marvel is all geared up to release their latest series, Secret Invasion, on Disney+ this summer. The upcoming limited series is set to be the first series in MCU's Phase Five and the third installation of the year, after the success of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Directed by Ali Selim, Secret Invasion has been created by Kyle Bradstreet with inspiration from the comicbook storyline of the same name. The series stars prominent Marvel regulars like Samuel L. "We're also filling in blanks about Fury's life that we don't know. We're meeting people he knew when he was out there on his own, before there were Avengers or anyone else. I had to figure out some stuff and work out some new things, which I've been trying to do for a while. It's great to have an opportunity to find out who he was and delve into how much of a toll his job actually takes on his personal life."
5) A political undertone
The MCU used to have an underlying political commentary in their films before Avengers: Endgame, after which the films just became a way of expanding the universe and introducing new characters. Even the conflicts were much more simple, without a lot of political or extensive rationale.
However, Secret Invasion seems to be ready to change that. While the series does revolve around an alien invasion on Earth, the storyline is much more than what meets the eye. The plot touches upon socially relatable problems, with a more-than-subtle political undercurrent to the whole storyline.
