Yungblud joined forces with Aerosmith's Joe Perry and Steven Tyler, along with Boston-based band Extreme's Nuno Bettencourt, on Sunday night to deliver their rendition of some of Black Sabbath's hits in honor of its late frontman. Despite the widespread appreciation for the tribute from spectators and other celebrities, Dan Hawkins, a member of the British rock band The Darkness, criticized the performance.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, Dan shared a clip of Yungblud, Steven Tyler, and Joe Perry singing Ozzy Osbourne's 1991 hit, Mama I'm Coming Home, on stage.

Another clip in the collage captured Ariana Grande standing with her hands in the air, shaking her head in awe of the performance. Dan added the subtext, "What a bunch of bellends", on the video while adding more criticism to the caption:

"Another nail in the coffin of rock n roll. Cynical, nauseating and more importantly; sh*t. Makes me sick how people jump on this sh*t to further their own careers."

Dan also added "#whatabunchofc*nts" to the caption, but later deleted the hashtag. Some fans speculated in the comment section that the guitarist's wording was rather directed at Ariana Grande's reaction to the tribute than the performance itself. A few others critiqued Dan's remarks. The musician later turned off the comments.

Ozzy Osbourne was honored at the 2025 MTV VMAs

Ozzy Osbourne passed away from cardiac arrest at 76 on July 22. His son, Jack Osbourne, and Jack's daughters, Pearl, Andy, Minnie, and Maple, shared a video message for the late rocker. The clip was played on the 2025 MTV VMAs stage before Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Yungblud, and Nuno Bettencourt's performance.

Addressing the VMAs, Jack said in the video:

Jack Osbourne then introduced Nuno, Steven, Joe, and Yungblud, born Dominic Richard Harrison:

"I'd like to give a special shoutout to Dom, Nuno, Steve, and Joe from Aerosmith."

Jack added a small message for his late father, Ozzy Osbourne:

"We love you, dad."

Jack's eldest daughter, Pearl, added, "In the words of our papa," with the others joining her in a chant, "Let's go crazy!"

Yungblud, the Aerosmith members, and Nuno delivered a medley comprising the songs, Crazy Train, Changes, and Mama I'm Coming Home.

After Ozzy's death, Yungblud shared a clip of his live cover of Black Sabbath's 1972 hit, Changes, from the band's farewell concert in early July. As he penned his tribute for Ozzy Osbourne on the Instagram post, Yungblud wrote:

"To sing this song for you at an event surrounded by legends inspired by you to a crowd that loved you was truly my life's greatest honour and I vow to play this song every night for the rest of my life."

Yungblud, who called Ozzy his "hero", also wore the late Prince's gold cross necklace, which he received as a gift, at the 2025 MTV VMAs red carpet.
