"Hi guys, this is my fourth time recording, and I don't know how I'm going to tell you guys that I just am not going to be able to post fall videos this year. Caitlin Covington, the blogger behind Southern Curls and Pearls, went viral in 2019 after online content creator Blizzy McGuire made a meme featuring Covington with fellow influencer Emily Gemma.

According to Buzzfeed, McGuire's meme was based on a 2016 photo of Covington and Gemma, where the two women were seen dressed in similar outfits: ankle-length boots, blanket scarves, curled hair, skinny jeans, and giant handbags. The now viral meme was a play on Megan Thee Stallion's 'Hot Girl Summer' and read:

During a 2022 interview with Nylon, the influencer explained her love for the season, revealing that she was drawn to fall as a way of soothing her anxiety.

“I've struggled with [anxiety] for many years, and fall is just all about comfort and finding comfort in really small things. So it could be making yourself a warm drink in the morning, or finding a really good book, or just cuddling up in a cardigan and walking outside and feeling the leaves crunched under your feet. All of those moments are so comforting, and there's so much safety in those," she said.

In an exclusive interview with People Magazine, dated September 23, 2024, Caitlin Covington admitted that being an influencer wasn't as easy as people believed it to be, adding that there was "a lot of pressure."

"I do feel pressure, especially during fall because I feel like everyone looks to me for fall content. So I try to hold myself to a certain standard and brainstorm new creative ideas. She added that her husband, a former data analyst, didn't get her love for fall when she first began her content; however, he changed his views after he began to take part in her work.

Furthermore, she shared that she spends close to 100 hours planning her annual fall trips, saying:

"The outfit planning is probably the most time-consuming part. We review various retailers, place orders, and then I spend hours trying on different outfits. Right now, I’m in the middle of trying on outfits for our Maine trip. We have very specific content ideas, like doing a video with a Gossip Girl audio. I’ll find an outfit that fits that theme, pack it down to a tee — including sunglasses, socks, everything — and then wear it on the trip. It’s probably around 100 hours of work that goes into each trip."
