Members Normani, Ally Brooke, Lauren Jauregui, and Dinah Jane took the stage at the Jonas Brothers' 20th anniversary tour, "JONAS20: Living the Dream Tour," at the Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas on Sunday.

Following this, X pop-culture account @PopTingz noted that the girl group's official Instagram account has re-followed Camila Cabello, who left the group in 2016 to focus on her solo career. Her departure came over four years after the group's inception on The X Factor in 2012.

During her March 2024 interview on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast, Cabello revealed the real reason for her departure from the group. She explained that her decision was driven by a desire to sing songs she had written herself, rather than writing songs for other artists.

"I can remember waking up on tour. and going to my hotel room at like 7 a.m. and going to my garage band and like writing songs, cause I didn't want to do it while everybody was there and I had such a passion that turned into writing. And at first I was like, 'Oh maybe I wanna write for other people.' But then it turned into like, 'No, actually I want to sing these songs by myself,'" she said.

"I started distancing myself from the group vision, and it felt like you know they were still really passionate and into that and so, I was just like, ‘I'm not happy here anymore, it doesn't feel aligned.'"

Camila Cabello's first solo endeavor was in 2015 while she was part of Fifth Harmony. The singer recorded and released I Know What You Did Last Summer with Shawn Mendes, whom she later dated for two years, breaking up in 2021. The couple briefly reconciled in 2023 but parted ways again that same year.

"That being said, we are excited to announce that we will be moving forward with the four of us- Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei,Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui for our fans."

According to E! Online, Camila Cabello took to Instagram to share her own statement about her departure a day after Fifth Harmony's official statement. She claimed that the statement was posted without her knowledge, writing:

"I was shocked to read the statement the Fifth Harmony account posted without my knowing. The girls were aware of my feelings through the long, much needed conversations about the future that we had during tour. Saying that they were just informed through my representatives that I was ' leaving the group' is simply not true."

Camila Cabello said she "did not intend to end things" with the group "this way," and added that she wishes them nothing but the best. She also stated she "will continue to root them all on as individuals and as a group."

The group addressed the incident in an interview with Good Morning America days after the awards ceremony, explaining that the performance was to signify "in an artistic way that, hey, the four of us are Fifth Harmony."

Meanwhile, in a 2018 interview with The New York Times, Cabello admitted that the stunt "hurt [her] feelings," adding that she "wasn't expecting it."

"It definitely hurt my feelings. I wasn’t expecting it, I wasn’t prepared for it — especially because at that point I’d moved on from it. I was just like, ‘What? Why?’” she said.
