10 former WWE superstars who could have added to the present product

Over time numerous different talented performers have come and gone from the WWE. Some releases may have indeed been justified but many times we can’t help but raise our eyebrows at certain stars that could have still had a lot to offer the company. Some of these superstars have had much more successful careers both in WWE and out while others have consistently struggled despite possessing a lot of talent. Let’s take a look now at 10 WWE superstars who were released from the company, but could add to today’s not-very-exciting product.

#1 Justin Gabriel

Justin Gabriel was an extremely impressive high flying individual (with his exciting 450 splash) in the ring but lacked some charisma and never seemed to reach his potential heights. Following the disbandment of the Nexus stable he slowly began to drop down the card transitioning to jobber as WWE completely dropped the ball on a possible star.

Gabriel wasn’t happy with his direction and recently stated how he had come up with ideas for a new character and new look but was never allowed the opportunity to test out his updated persona.

Back wrestling on the independent scene, Gabriel is now showing off his immense talent.

#2 Evan Bourne

Evan Bourne was another extremely talented high flyer that also lacked some charisma but certainly made up for it with his exhilarating in ring ability such as his picture perfect shooting star press finisher (Air Bourne).

A tag team championship reign, a lot of amazing performances in ladder match environments pretty much sums up his career however he was never truly able to break through the roof even though he possessed a lot of talent.

A serious foot injury put Bourne out for an extended period of time and despite eventually recovering he was never brought back onto television. Bourne also now performs on the indie circuit.

#3 Kaval (Low Ki)

Kaval (known to most as Low Ki) performed in WWE for a brief stint but they failed to push him to the sky. Kaval is an absolutely fantastic in ring performer and could have had an amazing career in the WWE. He is very talented wrestler and super exciting for fans to watch.

Kaval now performs in TNA (under the name Low Ki) where he has had a fairly successful career and currently is a part of the beat down clan faction.

#4 Drew McIntyre

At one stage, Drew McIntyre was the chosen one, a young star in the making capturing the IC title as well as high praise from Vince McMahon while also looking to certainly have a very promising career. However his potential would be squandered when he was placed into the 3MB team which soon became a jobber faction that rarely won a match.

3MB killed a lot of McIntyre’s potential but it was still possible that his career could be salvaged. However WWE simply decided to cut McIntyre (as well as his much less talented partner Jinder Mahal) along with several other superstars as some sort of budget cut.

Now under the name Drew Galloway, he looks to start a promising career with TNA.

#5 Mickie James

Mickie James is one of the best (and most underrated) females to ever perform for WWE, up there with the likes of Trish Stratus and Lita in terms of talent.

One of her most iconic/memorable moments was at Wrestlemania 22 when she defeated Stratus to capture the women’s championship in an amazing match which was part of an amazing storyline.

Mickie is actually the only women to ever capture the women’s championship, diva’s championship and the TNA knockouts championship. She would have been a great addition to the diva’s division today.

As alluded to previously, Mickie went on to wrestle for TNA where she had another successful career.

#6 Mr Kennedy

Mr Kennedy was a solid performer in the ring but it was his charisma and mic skills that really made him stand out. He was a young outspoken brash star in the making who boasted an impressive resume of knocking off numerous former wold champs.

His self-announced ring entrance was quite enthralling and WWE was keen on pushing him to great heights but a variety of different unfortunate circumstance derailed his momentum.

Kennedy is the only person in history to win the money in the bank briefcase and not cash it in which was due to an injury that turned out not as serious as once thought. This was the beginning of his downfall.

He now performs for TNA under the name Ken Anderson.

#7 Shelton Benjamin

One of the greatest most exciting in ring individuals to ever step foot in the WWE but once again they succeeded in not pushing him to heights he was destined for.

Just whenever you think of ladder matches (specifically Money in the Bank), one of the first names you connect to is Shelton Benjamin. Benjamin was a high flying risk taking extraordinaire who never failed to amaze and excite in extreme situations.

Unfortunately WWE never pushed him nowhere near enough as he most certainly deserved.

#8 MVP

Montel Vontavious Porter was an extremely charismatic and talented performer. He was very talented on the mic while also very compelling in the ring.

MVP had the make, move set, uniqueness and look of a top tier main event level champion. Even his entrance was quite a spectacle. Despite being on the fringe of the main event he never truly reached those heights due to WWE squandering his potential star power.

MVP is now able to fully show off his talent while performing for TNA as a main event level star.

#9 Alberto Del Rio

Alberto Del Rio was a very solid in ring performer and boasts a linear of impressive accomplishments from his time in WWE. He is a multiple time world heavyweight champion, money in the bank winner, multiple time WWE champion and won the largest royal rumble in history.

Del Rio was a well-established star but WWE chose to release him over an incident where he was simply standing up for himself.

Del Rio is also now making his presence felt on the independent scene performing for various different larger promotions such as Ring of Honour and Lucha Underground.

#10 John Morrison

John Morrison is without a doubt one of the most athletic and exciting wrestlers to ever step foot in a WWE ring where he was deservingly dubbed the prince of parkour due to his impressive acrobatic (parkour) skills.

When Jonny Nitro transitioned into Morrison he truly began to shine. He was built and had the presence of a mega star but WWE never really treated him as such.

Morrison went on to wrestle for various different independent promotion including Lucha Underground where he now performs as Johnny Mundo as one of the top level competitors.
