At the end of the day, why do cricketers play? For their team? For country? Or for themselves? While it’s true that the answer lies within one of these categories, the biggest reason for one to dream about playing cricket is the fans that cheer in the stadium. No sport can survive without fans. People come from across borders, leaving behind errands and responsibilities, just to watch and shout their lungs off for their beloved teams.Just like Castrol Activ’s Actibonds Cling On and help protect the engines even after they are switched off, these fans do whatever it takes to be with their teams to offer them support and encouragement across the world, forming a protective net for their teams. However, there are some fans that are even more extreme. Some individual personalities who can go beyond any intricacies for a glimpse of the team they love. The cricketing world is lucky to have numerous fans like these and here are 5 such fans who are almost always seen in the stadium whenever their team plays…

#1 Shoaib Al Bukhari

Up until now, being a Bangladesh fan brought more despair than happiness. Losing games regularly was the trait of the Tigers and they were the beating boys for the big guns.

However, it never mattered for Shoaib Al Bukhari as he has been supporting the team for over 9 years now without any thought or hesitation.

In every Bangladesh game, you will see a bare-chested guy with painting all over his body—resembling a tiger—shouting his tonsils off and waving the Bangladesh flag relentlessly: it is him. A mechanic by profession, all he ever does in life is work and support the Bangladesh cricket team.

He doesn’t care about accommodation or where he will eat, he just makes the trips, sticking by the team and cheering for them with all his heart.

#2 Percy Abeysekara

If you have been a cricket fan for some time, you will know exactly who Percy Abeysekara is.

Abeysekara is a Lankan fan synonymous with his team. His rise to fame was during the 1996 World Cup which was famously won by Sri Lanka.

In his lifetime, he claims to have visited over a 1000 matches and only stopped because he had to take care of his ill sister. He had been visiting Sri Lanka games from even before the time they got Test status and only stopped two years ago after his beloved country won the World T20 2014.

#3 Mohammad Basheer Bozai

He is the man of the hour now. Basheer Bozai is a Pakistani settled in America and has an Indian wife. He is often seen supporting Pakistan from the stadium and is one of the most kind-hearted guys you will find around.

He might be a crazy fan of Pakistan, but he respects other teams and actually wears their flags to show his liberal views

Recently, he wore the Bangladesh flag at a game, just because he wished to, dispelling all the rumours that he was forced to put the Bangladesh flag on, and showcasing how big a heart he has.

#4 Sudhir Kumar Gautam

Sudhir is the most popular Indian fan in the world and rightly so. His brilliant body paint depicts his love for the legends of the Indian cricket team and his appearances at every India game, regardless of where it is being played, is a testament to his love for his team.

His love for the team forced BCCI into providing him with travel expenses for wherever India go. But above all things, he can brag about one thing that almost every Indian would die for: Sachin Tendulkar knows of his existence and actually celebrated the World Cup 2011 win with him.

Only a sheer amount of dedication can bring you something you want—and Sudhir, despite his parents’ objections, just shows that by diligently loving his team.

#5 Cricket Chacha

Cricket Chacha from Pakistan is someone who has been doing this for a long time. All these fans that we see now are only but a product of inspiration, the source of which was this man. White-beard and everything else green; you might miss out Shahid Afridi’s batting in a game, but you won’t miss him in a Pakistan match.

Chaudhry Abdul Jalil, lovingly known as ‘Chacha’ (which means uncle), rose to stardom during the Sharjah Cup games in 1980. He was a truck driver in UAE back then. His zeal for the team caught the eye of PCB and they sponsored him to continue his support for the Pakistan team home and away.

During the 2015 World Cup, however, he wasn’t sponsored by the board, but that didn’t stop him from supporting his team.
