5 biggest stars of Extreme Rules

WWE Extreme Rules turned out to be a spectacle at the Izod center in New Jersey as the WWE superstars delivered some memorable performances on the night. While there were many moments to savour, some of the wrestlers stood out as clear show stealers on the night.Who were the ones to grab the spotlight? We take a look at the 5 possible biggest stars from the event.

#5 Cesaro

When Paul Heyman takes someone under his wing, he is bound for greatness. And his newest client Antonio Cesaro proved that theory right on Sunday night.

The Swiss Superman made the last entrance as RVD and Jack Swagger eagerly waited to get into a three-man elimination tussle. Cesaro had a perfect night as he defeated both his opponents to emerge as the winner of the battle. RVD and Swagger did put up a good show, but the proceedings clearly demonstrated Cesaro as the focal point on the night.

The win symbolises Cesaro's road to becoming a significant star in the current WWE roster and certainly one of the stand out wrestlers of the PPV.

#4 Paige

The Divas champion squared off against the intimidating Tamina for the Divas title. Paige had the momentum early on, but her challenger punished her for most of the match. She tried to make a comeback, but she was laid flat on the ring by the Samoan.

Tamina went for the Superkick but was her move was countered by Paige who turned in into a modified Scorpion Crosslock to pick up her first pay-per-view win.

The match served as a testimonial to Paige's talent as a WWE Diva. It was another victory for the 21-year-old who proved that she is not here to take a ride along and underestimating her would a mistake from her competitor's perspective.

#3 John Cena

It was a highly anticipated match as John Cena and Bray Wyatt's story had a different tone to all the other matches. The superstars kicked it off inside the steel cage with the crowds singing "he's got the whole world in his hands." Wyatt controlled most of the proceedings, but Cena emerged as the better man on the night.

Cena was about to escape the cage after he knocked out all of the three men. But a demonic singing voice of a child distracted Cena and Wyatt took advantage of it and escaped.

While it wasn't a cheerful night for Cena, the match clearly showed that he still is the centre of attraction and WWE still banks on his star power. The face of the WWE shone once again and made Wyatt look weaker on the big stage.

#2 Daniel Bryan

Prior to the match , Kane and Daniel Bryan promised each other that they would go down to the depths of hell in order to achieve victory over one another. With the Yes movement behind his back, Daniel Bryan straightaway began on the front foot by brawling against The Big Red Monster on the entrance ramp.

Then it went on in the ring, outside the ring, at the announce table to the backstage area and reached the parking lot. Both the superstars came back at each other and there was no respite. Bodies crashed on cars, objects were thrown and flaming tables were set up.

The World Heavyweight Champion was destined to end up in flames, but he managed to sent Kane through his own hell. Bryan rounded things off with a knee to Kane's face and retained his championship. It was yet another extraordinary performance from Bryan on the night and certainly the kind to place him as one of the major stars of the PPV.

#1 The Shield

The Shield once again proved why they are the biggest faction of this era. Battling it out with one of the most dominant and foxy alliances in the form of Evolution was no easy ride. But the Hounds of Justice had already defeated some star studded alliances in the past and one would be living in denial to label them as the underdogs.

Heading into this match, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose had already earned their places as three of the most popular stars at the moment. And with Reigns pinning Batista after delivering a spear, the group elevated to new heights with a victory on the night.

You could say that Rollins's balcony leap could be the standout moment from The Shield's perspective. But it would be demeaning to the other superstars as everyone put their foot on the gas to give the Izod center a memorable night to remember.

Efforts from both the teams must be appreciated as they engaged in a brawl all over the arena. But the winner of the duel gets to take a step forward into the limelight which in this case is The Shield.
