5 Wrestlers who could benefit from the injury to John Cena

More merchandise sales = bigger push

New Day will benefit due to merchandise salesWWE’s preparations for WrestleMania 32 received a big blow in the form of John Cena’s injury. The Cenation leader is expected to be out of action for nearly nine months and his absence has put WWE into yet another crisis situation. How WWE will manage without Cena for the WrestleMania period will be an interested plot to follow. While Cena’s injury is a bad thing for WWE as a whole, there are certain superstars who could make the best out of his misfortune. There are superstars who could benefit from Cena’s injury in one way or the other and here is a look at them.

#5 New Day

More merchandise sales = bigger push

The reason for the inclusion of New Day into this list is their merchandise sales. The merchandise of John Cena is something which moves pretty fast. His absence, however, is likely to reflect on this merchandise sales. When the top dog goes out of action, the guy next in line gets a push, same will happen with the New Day merchandise.

New Day are heavy movers in the market and in the absence of Cena, they could cement their spot on top of the merchandise selling chain. In turn, New Day could also get a bigger push on the road to WrestleMania.

#4 Alberto Del Rio

Del Rio can hold onto his US title for now

Alberto Del Rio made a triumphant return to WWE in 2015 and defeated John Cena for the United States Championship. Cena took some time off from wrestling after the loss and when he returned, he was pitted directly against Alberto Del Rio. Cena came inches close of winning back the title from Del Rio and it seemed like Cena was all set to have a war against the League of Nations.

Now that Cena is injured, WWE will have to find a new feud for Del Rio and his gang. A feud with Cena was clearly going to end the League of Nations and now since the idea is scrapped, the stable does have another chance in their hands to stay relevant.

#3 Roman Reigns

The throne could be his

The injury of John Cena is both encouraging and discouraging for Roman Reigns. First of all, the ratings might take a hit and the blame could fall on the head of Reigns. This is not something that Reigns want at this point considering that most of the big name superstars are out injured.

However, on the bright side, Roman Reigns could get the credit as well if WWE does good numbers. He will not have to share the credit with Cena and this will add more credibility to the career of Reigns. He could sit on the throne permanently by the time Cena returns to action.

#2 Brock Lesnar

More money awaits

WWE has all their big stars out. Seth Rollins is injured, Cena is out, Undertaker cannot work regularly, and this leaves them with Brock Lesnar. Lesnar, clearly a big time player, works on the basis of money offered to him. He gets a huge pile of money for limited appearances and has been WWE’s trump card for quite some time.

Now, at a time of desperation, WWE is likely to approach Lesnar. Vince could offer Lesnar more than usual to appear in the WWE programming so that he could deal with the void that Cena left. So Cena’s injury means the potential of more money for Lesnar.

#1 John Cena

Hollywood calling

Just like the Seth Rollins situation, the major benefactor of John Cena’s injury is John Cena himself. The time he takes to heal his injuries will serve as a solid break for him. He has been working tirelessly for quite some time now and a nine-month break will help his body to cool down.

Also, Cena could venture into other aspects during this period. He once cited his wrestling schedule as the reason why he does not take big Hollywood projects and now that he is off television for nearly a year, Cena could end up working in a big flick and thereby increase his value in Hollywood.
