In the fourth season of IPL at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association in Dharamsala, another set of 30 runs were scored in an over. It was the match between Kings XI Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Kings XI Punjab were batting first and had lost Paul Valthaty in the fourth over with the score at 25. The other opener and skipper Adam Gilchrist was in partnership with Shaun Marsh.

Both the Australian left hand batsmen were hitting the ball well and completed their 100-run partnership at the end of 12 overs. It was the 15th over of the innings bowled by South African Johan van der Wath to Shaun Marsh, in which Marsh collected 30 runs hitting three sixes and as many fours.

Both the batsmen continued the hitting and became the first pair to put on a 200-run partnership in the history of IPL. They both put on 206 runs with Adam Gilchrist scoring his second IPL hundred and Shaun Marsh remaining unbeaten on 79. Their total of 232/2 was too hot for RCB to handle as they lost by 111 runs.
