January brings with it a lot of mid-season crisis as well as solutions. The transfer mill is expected to be the same this time around with many clubs seeking reinforcements and many players seeking a new start.
There has been a buzz around many players and clubs, with players seeking moves away from their respective clubs for various reasons from playing time to better contracts. Nonetheless, the January window is poised to give us some interesting news.
Here are the transfer news and rumours for the day.
- Sampdoria confirmed that they have signed Ricky Alvarez who was a free agent after legal disputes with former club Inter. The 27-year-old has agreed a six-month deal with the club after passing a medical.
“I really wanted to come back,” Alvarez said. “I'm keen on staying here and I'm very driven. Over the last six months, I had a number of problems that meant I had to stop, but I feel okay now. Samp are a great team, they have some excellent footballers and they did well last year. It's a really good challenge for me.”
- According to Corriere dello sport, Roma are planning to launch a bid for out of favour Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen. The defender is worth around €6 million and could move in search of playing time.
- AC Milan are set to launch a bid for Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini according to the Metro. United are expected to demand a fee of around £14.8million and the Serie A giants are more than willing to offer a bid in the same region.
