#1 501* - Brian Lara

The West Indian batting great scored a monumental 501* against Durham playing for Warwickshire. He crossed the 500-run mark on the last day of the four-day encounter, on 6 June 1994.

The knock included 62 fours and 10 sixes. Lara batted for 474 minutes as his team made 810 in a drawn match.

#2 499 - Hanif Mohammad

Playing for Karachi, the opening batsman made a fine 499 before being unfortunately run out.

His side went on to win the match by 479 runs against Bahawalpur.

#3 452* - Donald Bradman

Widely believed to be the best player to have ever graced the game of cricket, he scored his personal best of 452* after being dismissed cheaply in his first innings of the match against Queensland.

New South Wales won the match by a margin of 685 runs.

#4 443* - Bhausaheb Nimbalkar

The only Indian in the list. Batting at No.3 for Maharashtra, his unbeaten 443 helped his state side take a massive first innings lead againstKathiawar.

#5 437 - Bill Ponsford

Bill Ponsford, opening for Victoria, scored 437 before being eventually dismissed caught and bowled against Queensland. This was his second score of 400+ in 4 years.

His personal best helped the team to win by an innings and 197 runs.

#6 429 - Bill Ponsford

The Australian batsman, coming in at No. 5, scored 429 to guide his team to a huge score of 1059 against Tasmania.

Victoria won by an innings and 666 runs.

#7 428 - Aftabh Baloch

In the match between Sind and Baluchistan, Sind middle order batsman Aftabh Baloch raked up this score as his side went on to win the match by an innings and 575 runs.

#8 424 - Archie MacLaren

The Lancashire opener was dismissed only after he made the bowlers sweat a lot by scoring 424 in the first innings of the match against Somerset.

Lancashire won by an innings and 452 runs.

#9 405 - Graeme Hich

Batting for Worcestershire, Graeme Hich, the England international, had a huge part to play in his side’s score of 628.

He helped his team beat Somerset by an innings and 204 runs.

#10 400* - Brian Lara

The only international score in this list, and, as expected, it belongs to the man from Trinidad and Tobago.

Even an experienced and formidable bowling attack of England was not able to break this man’s defence as the bowlers were found wanting against his breathtaking strokeplay.
