#5 Toe to Toe with the best

The Attitude Era was the time when there was not one, not two but multiple guys who were main event levels. Chris Jericho was one of them.

He could go toe to toe with the greatest of the era like The Rock and Stone Cold and look like he belonged. If there’s any doubt just look at his WWE debut.

He already had a pretty good reputation coming from ECW and WCW, with all other great debuts being compared to this one ultimately because this one of the best mark-out moments, with a genuinely intriguing build up for a debut with the Millenium Clock.

Just look at his segments with The Rock or Triple H or Stone Cold and you’ll be thoroughly entertained. He’s the guy who beat The Rock and Stone Cold in one night to become the first ever Undisputed WWE Champion and carried it with much chutzpah.

#4 Great babyface

If you had any doubt about Jericho being a great babyface just go and watch his title win against Triple H on Raw in the year 2000.

It amounted to absolutely nothing and that’s why the audience was seething. But just watch that pin and the eventual win even if it lasted a few moments. The crowd leapt in excitement only like an Attitude Era crowd would, but that reaction was still reserved for one of the best.

Jericho earned that from them. He’d got The Acolytes to equalize the interference that was bound to happen from Triple H’s allies. For someone other than Austin or Rock to get that pop was a big deal.

It is still one of the loudest pops witnessed in WWE history.

#3 A man of all eras

While in the Attitude Era, he faced the best and got the best out of a particular situation.

He can boast of being the first ever Undisputed Champion and also holds the distinction of beating The Rock and Austin in one one night.

He can boast of beating Shawn Michaels when the PG Era kicked off and even during the Ruthless Aggression Era they had a Wrestlemania feud, he can boast of a compelling feud with Christian and Trish Stratus during the Ruthless Aggression era as well.

He also has a memorable feud with CM Punk when the Reality Era kicked off. He has had something or the other entertaining to do in every era that he’s ben a part of.

#2 Great heel + career defining feud

Jericho’s a great wrestler and there’s no doubt about that. The Walls of Jericho is a move that he predominantly popularized. But one of the greatest things he’s ever had is the feud between him and Shawn Michaels.

Easily one of the best feuds ever written in the WWE. That feud showed how masterful a heel Jericho can be and that gave rise to the slow talking, suit wearing heel Jericho.

He went from being IC Champion to World Champion in the time span of this feud and 2008 ended being a defining year in his career. This feud got really personal and it all made sense. All the matches they had culminated into a well-told story and the feud of the year 2008.

#1 Miscellaneous

The thing is Chris Jericho is beyond classification. He’s excelled in most things that he’s been a part of.

Whether it’s hosting his own talk show The Highlight Reel, and while it wasn’t as legendary as Piper’s Pit, it still remains one of the best shows on WWE. He introduced he idea of The Money In The Bank to the audience and since then it’s gained the relevancy that the IC title once had as a stepping stone for the future stars in the business.

He has his catchphrases and some epic feuds with Stephanie McMahon, HBK, Edge, CM Punk, Dolph Ziggler, The Rock and Austin. He’s got the most IC title reigns and has kickstarted his own band, which is doing pretty well.

Also that light up jacket! And then he got back to the WWE and began putting guys over; again and again.

He’s a jack of all trades.
