5 Reasons Why Roman Reigns Should Not Win the Royal Rumble

Who do you think should win the Royal Rumble? The first name that poked up into your mind is clearly your favorite in case you were having any trouble figuring that out. Now since that is figured out, on majority cases, it would’ve been Roman Reigns. The Samoan Superman is at the verge of getting pushed to the moon by WWE and Royal Rumble looks set to be the first step towards that. Reigns ranks as one of the top names that could guarantee a WrestleMania main event but is he ready? It’s a big question indeed and though many might agree otherwise, here is a look at some of the reasons why Roman Reigns should not win this year’s Royal Rumble.

#5 Extreme Philadelphia Wrestling fans

If you think that the WWE fans are cool, wait till the company hits Philadelphia for Royal Rumble. Long term wrestling fans would be well aware of how notorious the ECW fans are and since the WWE product is at an all-time low, they would spare no mercy for the show.

They will be pouncing on every wrong move that WWE will make throughout the pay-per-view and even though Roman Reigns winning doesn’t belong to that list, he is sure to be scrutinized.

The fans in Philadelphia appreciate wrestling over looks and flashiness and John Cena’s embarrassment back at One Night Stand was the biggest proof for this. So if WWE decides to let the pretty boy win in front of a blood thirsty fans, it is bound to blow up.

#4 His complicated relationship with the microphone

There are always a lot of problems when you are not the best talker in the business. Being a promo man is one of the integral parts of being in the wrestling business and Reigns still has a long way to reach the main event skill level.

He has been botching up big time on the mic recently and the company cannot simply rely on him to build a top feud for WrestleMania.

Reigns winning the Rumble will mean that he will be responsible for pulling off some great promos against the Champion and since the Samoan Superstar is a big short on that side, its better if the WWE gives him some more time to improve.

#3 Weight of the world on his shoulders

Reigns winning the Royal Rumble means that he will have to face either John Cena or Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania assuming that WWE might not do a great thing of making Seth Rollins the champion.

It sounds like the best idea on paper but think about it. Brock Lesnar defeated the Undertaker last year and ended a two decade long streak. He dismantled a 15 time World Champion just months after at SummerSlam stamping his place on top of the mountain.

Defeating someone like that would keep all the expectations on Reigns when this is only his second year in the company. The same applies if Cena defeats Lesnar at Rumble as Reigns facing Cena scenario at Mania will result in a similar risk.

#2 Admit it; he is still a bit green

Ever wondered why so many people hate John Cena? The most popular answer would point towards the push that he gets from Vince McMahon but then again it’s not Cena’s fault. The second argument comes against Cena’s wrestling moves.

They say that the Cenation leader only has a handful of moves in his arsenal and that is indeed a valid claim. However, so does Roman Reigns.

The former Shield member is not the best technician in the ring and is not the best brawler as well. He often just relies on the flashiness to complete the match when there isn’t much to analyse here. We haven’t seen Reigns prove himself in a long demanding match and till then, he will always be a bit green in front of everyone.

#1 The Flying Goat

There is a motive behind each and every action and the one behind this list was Daniel Bryan. The Flying goat surprised the entire wrestling community when he announced about his plans to return at the Rumble.

It was a clear game changer at that time since Bryan offers a much better option than Reigns. Bryan’s first match after injury will be a big draw for starters while the storyline of a beast going against a battered warrior clicks instantly with the WWE Universe.

Bryan in comparison to Reigns will result in a better in ring match as well. Bryan’s condition is a big headache for the company but then again, he is always a better wrestler than Reigns.
