#1 Never a Diva

Banks doesn’t feel like she’s WWE’s kind of diva

Sasha Banks, when recounting her time of being a fan of WWE, never really speaks about the women's matches she loves.

She never really liked the Bra and Panties matches or any other such gimmick-heavy matches. She abhorred the Playboy influence. And during her initial days in NXT, she was told to wrestle like a diva, which meant just plain slapping and hair pulling.

Even though, initially she was okay with 3-minute matches just to be in the WWE, she realized that’s never going to be enough. And things changed for the better with Sara Del Rey coming in as a trainer and Triple H giving more time to the women- two people she hugely admires.

#2 The Fan

She has always been a mark

Banks has grown up being a fan of wrestlers like Dean Malenko and Chris Jericho to name a few.

She’s also a fan of Rey Mysterio. But her all-time favorite is Eddie Guerrero. She was present at the Raw episode held in memorial of Guerrero and she did not even know that he’d passed away. It was only when a fellow fan told her about it in the arena that she realized and hence was left heartbroken.

Her favorite match ever is Guerrero vs Mysterio at Halloween Havoc 1997.

#3 Favorite female wrestler is...

Akira Hokuto- Spectacular

Sasha counts Akira Hokuto as her favourite female wrestler.

Even though she did like Jazz and Molly Holly and Trish Stratus on the rare occasion when they were allowed to wrestle, but throughout her life she’s been a fan of Japanese legend Akira Hokuto.

She love Japanese wrestling and grew up watching and learning from it on the Internet. She would have headed to japan if the WWE offer hadn’t come her way. Speaking of the Japanese Influence in her life, she’s also a fan of Japanese anime television series Sailor Moon.

Otherwise, she’s also a fan of Korean Pop Music. Quite the pop- culture aficionado

#4 The Name

The Boss and Mr/ Gorgeous- Much Wow

Her real name is Mercedes Kaestner-Varnado. She thinks she’s among the lucky few who have a great wrestling name.

She’d suggested a few names. One had Sasha in it and the other had Banks in it and WWE just thought of combining the two and that has made all the difference. As far as her moniker of ‘The Boss’ goes, Banks says that Tyler Breeze helped her out with and he based it on one of her famous cousins.

Which bring us to our next point.

#5 Snoop Dogg is her cousin

Yes. She is related to someone quite famous. Yes, he happens to be a rapper. And yes, he happens to be Snoop Dogg.

Tyler Breeze helped her get her moniker which has now become so very synonymous with her WWE career. Her moniker ‘The Boss’ is based on what her cousin Snoop Dogg calls himself. Many people still don’t know that.

Initially, sometimes she would ask him to make her meet Vince McMahon, but it seems Banks never needed his influence. She’s already made herself one of the best wrestlers on the roster. Vince McMahon himself one day came to give her a handshake after a great match she had with Paige.
