Top 5 WWE Commercials

It is no secret that the WWE production team has always delivered. It is one of the best aspects of the WWE. Be it video promos for building up certain feuds/ matches or commercials to promote a product/pay per view/ television show. The production team sells the feuds much like the superstars do when they work a match or a promo. Sometimes the video promos turn out to be better than the match itself and the commercials turn out to be better than the PPV itself. Here are the top 5 WWE Commercials:

#1 Smackdown on Thursday Night

The inspiration for this slideshow is the recently aired commercial for Smackdown as it is shifting to Thursday Night. That commercial featured a therapist showing the picture test or the Rorschach test where various wrestlers had to tell what they see in the picture. Everyone answered ‘Thursday’. The wrestlers said that in their very own style and that’s what made this funny and effective.

As Don Draper would say, “Simple yet significant”

#2 Ric Flair 101

Do you really think this should actually be taught in university? This course about how to be Ric Flair?

This commercial shows how that University will look like. This commercial is for the North Carolina Lottery Ticket. It makes Ric Flair look like what he’s always looked like ‘Larger Than Life’. It is something that every wrestler in professional wrestling always aims to look like,

#3 Wrestlemania 21 Pulp Fiction Commercial

All the commercials leading upto Wrestlemania 21 were funny with a lot of production value. They replicated many of the sets of the movies they were parodying. One such commercial was the opening sequence of “Vincent Vega and Marsellus Wallace's Wife” Storyline. Eddie Guerrero is John Travolta and Booker T is Samuel L Jackson.

The tension builds up just like it did in that original scene. There is anticipation about what’s going to happen. Right when Booker T starts quoting Ezekiel 25:17, was I the only one who was thinking that Austing might come in with the Austin 3:16?

#5 The One with No Mercy

No Mercy is a long gone pay per view. For most of its stay it played a part in one of the most violent phases of the WWE, back when it was okay for things to get messy and bloody.

Around the time of this commercial, WWE was moving towards a more sober era compared to the Attitude Era which was in its last stages and Vince McMahon had just acquired WCW.

The commercial has baseball and not rugby.
