WWE Top 5 rumors of the week and analysis: 6 December, 2015

Lesnar could enter the Rumble

This week’s speculations point to a promising 2016Falling ratings weren’t enough to put a hold to the speculations in the rumor mills. The internet and the WWE Universe were buzzing throughout the week about some possible returns that could change the face of WWE in 2016. WWE getting linked with superstars makes sense due to their drop in ratings and it would be interesting to see whether a spell of returns could boost the ratings or not. There were also rumors about WWE’s plans for WrestleMania and Royal Rumble along with an interesting tease of Mick Foley. As always, we are going to take a detailed look into these rumors and their potential consequences.

#5 Lesnar to enter Royal Rumble

Lesnar could enter the Rumble

We earlier came across the speculation about Brock Lesnar agreeing to work more dates with the WWE.

Now, the rumor mill suggests that Lesnar is booked for Royal Rumble. Having Lesnar in a major pay-per-view like Royal Rumble would only be a good move ahead of WrestleMania, but the question is Will Lesnar enter the Royal Rumble match?

Lesnar is also rumored to face Kevin Owens at WrestleMania so if that is the case, then Lesnar entering Rumble and getting eliminated by Owens or the other way around will serve as a foundation for the whole thing.

If the rumor does materialize, it would be a great step forward for Owens.

#4 Next in line for main roster call up

Balor is next in line

Finn Balor and Baron Corbin were rumoured to be backstage for last week’s Monday Night Raw.

According to the rumor mills, these two are next in line for a call-up to the main roster. Balor, who is the current NXT Champion, is all set to take on Samoa Joe for the title at the next NXT special.

If he does drop the title to Joe, then the rumors are going to gain some extra momentum.

Corbin, on the other hand, is still enjoying an all out monster push down in NXT. He has shown signs of improvement, but his weaknesses are usually exposed in longer matches. It would be interesting to see how he is handled in the main roster if he is called up soon.

#3 Foley wants to put over talent

The Foley family is taking over

Micky Foley had teased an angle where he wanted to put over the underutilized superstars in the main roster.

The chances of this idea happening are low despite the curiosity that it evokes among the fans. The reason for WWE not being interested in the same is because Mick wants to work without a script.

Working without a script is not something that the company encourages at this point. Sticking to Mick Foley, the talks of Noelle Foley working as a backstage interviewer is still in the rumor category as it has not been confirmed yet. Dewey Foley, meanwhile, is all set to start working at the company from January.

#2 WWE interested in former Diva

WWE interested in bringing back Maria

One of the major return rumors that came out last week saw Maria Kannelis as the protagonist.

The former WWE Divas is enjoying a successful run in Ring of Honor alongside her boyfriend Mike Bennett. WWE is interested in bringing her back to the company, but there is no news on how they are planning to use her.

Rey Mysterio also featured in a similar rumor. His AAA appearances are considerably toned down in 2016 and this indicate a full-blown return to WWE. Having Maria and Rey back in the roster will be a boost and the next two guys will provide an even bigger boost.

#1 Jeff Hardy returning at WrestleMania 32 followed by Matt

Hardy all set to return?

Ever since the Dudley Boys made their return, there have been rumors about a potential return of the Hardy Boys.

These rumors picked up momentum when Jeff revealed that he is open to a return. There are talks about Jeff possibly making a return at WrestleMania. Matt is expected to follow his brother as well and the inclusion of the Hardy Boys will turn around the tag team division.

All these rumors linked with superstar returns suggest that WWE is indeed in panic mode due to the ratings despite what they say. But without some good and solid storylines, all these returns are destined to go in vain.
