ATP - Isner reaches semi-finals in Houston

Two Americans have reached the semi finals of the US Men’s Clay Court Champioonships in Houston, Texas.

Second seed John Isner beat defending champion Ryan Sweeting 7-6(1), 7-6(4) serving 11 aces and saving all six break points on the way. He will play the winner of the quarter final between third seed Feliciano Lopez and No. 6 seed Carlos Berlocq.

Meanwhile, 33-year-old Michael Russell beat fellow AmericanRyan Harrison 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 in a match between the oldest and youngest player in the draw. Russel had beaten top seed Mardy Fish in the second round.

Fourth seed Juan Monaco also reached the last four beating fifth seed Kevin Anderson 7-6(4), 7-5 and will meet Russell next.

At the Grand Prix Hassan event in Casablanca, defending Casablanca champion Pablo Andujar reached the semi-finals by beating Potito Starace 6-3, 6-0 and then Sergio Gutierrez-Ferrol 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 due to rain delays on Thursday.

In the semis, Andujar will play Flavio Cipolla, who beat Benoit Paire 6-3, 6-4. Igor Andreev beat Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-4, 6-2 and will take on seventh seed Albert Ramos, who scored a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Jeremy Chardy.
