Grand Slam champions Petra Kvitova and Naomi Osaka will aim for their first title at the Australian Open when they lock horns in a blockbuster final at the Melbourne Park on Saturday. Not only will they get to taste Grand Slam glory once more, the winner will also ascend to the pinnacle of the world rankings.

There is indeed a lot at stake. And it will definitely come down to a battle of the nerves. Both are endowed with attacking shots. Kvitova's lefty serves and forehands have won her two Wimbledon crowns and Osaka's scintillating forehands have got her the US Open last year.

It will thus be a test of their mental strength in their first ever Australian Open final which also happens to be their first ever showdown. The 28-year-old Kvitova is the more experienced campaigner and is now on an 11-match winning streak, having triumphed at Sydney earlier this month.

She is yet to drop a set this fortnight and has appeared to be mentally stronger since her return in 2017 from a devastating knife attack.

The 21-year-old Osaka too has appeared to be the most consistent of youngsters. And she has given ample glimpses of her mental fortitude in the three three-setters she was involved in at the Australian Open.

It would be a high-quality match that is sure to mesmerize tennis fans all over the world.
