2023 Miami Open - Day 7
Paula Badosa will be in action on Day 2 of the Charleston Open

Day 2 of the Charleston Open will take place on Tuesday, with the remainder of the first round being played while a few second-round matches will take place as well.

Paula Badosa will face Mayar Sherif while Danielle Collins will be up against compatriot Shelby Rogers. Meanwhile, Madison Keys will take on Emma Navarro and Alycia Parks will face Diana Shnaider.

Victoria Azarenka and Ons Jabeur will also be in action as they look to book their spots in the third round.

On that note, let's take a look at the predictions for some of the women's singles matches on Day 2 of the Charleston Open.

#1 Paula Badosa vs Mayar Sherif

Twelfth seed Paula Badosa will face Mayar Sherif in the first round of the Charleston Open. This will be the very first meeting between the two on the WTA Tour.

Badosa has won six out of her 10 matches so far this season. Her best performance saw her reach the semifinals of the Adelaide International 2, from which she had to withdraw due to an injury.

The Spaniard most recently reached the third round of the Miami Open where she narrowly lost 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 to eventual runner-up Elena Rybakina.

Sherif, meanwhile, has had a pretty disappointing season so far, with only two wins from eight matches. Both of her wins came at the Monterrey Open, where she reached the quarterfinals before losing to Caroline Garcia.

Badosa will be eager to rise up the rankings and a good run in Charleston could help her cause. The Spaniard should have little trouble getting the better of Sherif to move to the second round.

Predicted Winner: Paula Badosa.

#2 Danielle Collins vs Shelby Rogers

Danielle Collins will face Shelby Rogers in the first round of the Charleston Open. It will be the fourth meeting between the two, with Rogers leading 2-1 in their head-to-head.

Collins has won nine out of her 18 matches this season, with her best performance so far being reaching the semifinals of the ATX Open. Rogers, on the other hand, has won only six out of her 13 matches, with her best outing being reaching the quarterfinals of the Abu Dhabi Open.

Both players are capable of producing some good tennis at their best and the match promises to be an exciting one. Collins seems to be in better form at the moment and has a good chance of beating Rogers to book her place in the second round of the Charleston Open.

Predicted Winner: Danielle Collins.

#3 Madison Keys vs Emma Navarro

Ninth seed Madison Keys will take on wildcard Emma Navarro in the first round of the Charleston Open. It will be the very first meeting between the two on the WTA Tour.

Keys most recently exited the Miami Open in the third round after losing to Barbora Krejcikova, while Navarro lost in the second round of the WTA 1000 event.

The former has won 11 out of 16 matches so far this season while Navarro has mostly competed on the ITF circuit. The 21-year-old has won only two out of four WTA Tour matches so far.

Keys will enter the match as the favorite to win and should be able to come out on top without much trouble.

Predicted Winner: Madison Keys.

#4 Alycia Parks vs Diana Shnaider

Alycia Parks will face Diana Shnaider in the first round of the Charleston Open. It will be the very first meeting between the two.

Parks most recently suffered an opening-round defeat at the Miami Open, while Diana Shnaider was unable to make it to the main draw, falling in the qualifiers.

The American won her maiden career title in Lyon this season but apart from that, her performances have been anything but impressive. Shnaider has also not fared too well as she has mostly competed in the qualifiers of WTA Tour tournaments.

Parks will enter the match as the favorite to win and there is a good chance of her coming out on top and reaching the second round of the Charleston Open.

Predicted Winner: Alycia Parks.
