Prague, Jan 22 (IANS) The Czech tennis team’s captain Jaroslav Navratil announced that he has nominated Tomas Berdych, Radek Stepanek, Lukas Rosol and Jiri Vesely for the first round of the Davis Cup tournament against the Netherlands.
The matches are to be held Jan 31 to Feb 2 in Ostrava, north Moravia, Czech Republic, reports Xinhua.
Berdych, who is ranked seventh in the world, and Stepanek, ranked 44th, will lead the Czech team, Navratil said Tuesday.
Berdych, who advanced to the Australian Open semi-final Tuesday, is in good shape but this might be his last Davis Cup participation for some time, said Navratil.
The Czech tennis team has beaten the Netherlands four times and lost once. Czechs beat the Dutch in their last meeting in 2006.
