Kim Clijsters vs. Arantxa Rus French Open Preview

Kim Clijster’s return to the French Open so far has gone as expected. She won her first game with relative ease but showed a lack of form and killer instinct. Clijsters is seeded second in the tournament and it will take her some effort to justify that figure with keen competitors such as Maria Sharapova, Samanth Stosur, Francesca Schiavone. However, given her massive experience and vigour for victory, she is more likely to come with the goods than not.

Clijsters will play Arantxa Rus, her dutch opponent in the second round at the Court Philippe Chatrier. It will be intriguing to see if she is stretched in this game and if she is, we can be sure that she is lacking the form you need to win a grand slam. For Clijsters, it is never about reaching the last four and lesser laurels but always about the biggest prize and in that context, she must come to her best with the help of these less demanding fixtures.

Arantxa Rus has a world ranking of 118 and she will be a walkover for the Belgian. What will also be noticeable is her net-play as that will tell how confident she is. Arantxa Rus wont be able to test Clijsters’ stamina for sure and test will remain for yet another day in the French open.

In other fixtures to be played on Thursday in the women’s singles at the French Open involve Russian heartbeat, Maria Sharapova, Johanna Larrson and Na-Li.
