While Novak Djokovic continues to remain atop the newly released ATP rankings, his reign could conclude by the end of the 2024 French Open. He's the defending champion in Paris and an early exit will result in Jannik Sinner being crowned as the new World No. 1.

For Djokovic to remain atop the rankings, he must reach at least the semifinals and hope for Sinner to be eliminated in the first round itself. Should the latter make it through his opener, then the Serb must reach the final.

If Djokovic makes it to the championship round, then Sinner should reach at least the semifinals. Should both of them reach the summit clash, then the winner will walk away as the World No. 1. The Italian could become the first player from his country to ascend to the top of the rankings.

There's no major change in the top 10 of the ATP rankings this week as players occupy the same positions as last week. Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, and Daniil Medvedev are ranked from No. 3 to No. 5 respectively.

Andrey Rublev is up next at No. 6, followed by Casper Ruud at No. 7. The latter won the Geneva Open over the weekend, and while he did gain some points for his triumph, it did not affect his position in the ATP rankings.

Hubert Hurkacz remains steady at his career-high ranking of No. 8, with Stefanos Tsitsipas (No. 9) and Grigor Dimitrov (No. 10) rounding out the region. Outside of the top 10, seven players have attained new career milestones.

Tomas Machac scored one of the most memorable wins of his career as he ousted Novak Djokovic in the semifinals of last week's Geneva Open. While he lost to Casper Ruud in the final, he still rose by 10 spots to a new career high of No. 34.

Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard is the latest next-gen player making waves on the tour. He captured his maiden ATP title at the Lyon Open on Saturday, which has resulted in some big gains for the French youngster. He jumped 51 places to No. 66 in this week's ATP rankings.

Other players to improve on their previous career peaks include Alejandro Tabilo (No. 24), Luciano Darderi (No. 40), Flavio Cobolli (No. 53), Pavel Kotov (No. 56), and Alex Michelsen (No. 60).
