Caroline Wozniacki returned to the golf course after a two-year hiatus, accompanied by her husband, David Lee. The Danish tennis star shared a hilarious video online, revealing her exhaustion while Lee enthusiastically continued swinging.
Wozniacki took to Instagram to share a reel of herself playing golf. In the video, she showcased a solid swing, followed by a cheerful thumbs-up. She captioned the post:
"Good to be back after a 2 year break! #fore 🏌🏼♀️"
On her Instagram stories, however, the Dane shared a more candid moment. The video showed her lying on the ground, taking a break, while her husband David Lee continued practicing his swings. She humorously captioned the story:
"Not sure what I'm doing... Golf is exhausting"
Notably, several sporting stars and friends of Wozniacki commented on her Reel. Her close friend, American tennis icon, Serena Williams commented:
"I just love you"
While 28-time Olympic medallist, Michael Phelps wrote:
"Yes!!!"
Interestingly, Wozniacki was once in a high-profile relationship with golfer Rory McIlroy, one of the sport's most accomplished players. The pair began dating in 2011 and got engaged on New Year’s Eve in 2013. However, their relationship came to an abrupt end just months later when McIlroy called off the engagement over the phone.
"The problem is mine," McIlroy said in a May 2014 statement (via USMagazine). "The wedding invitations issued at the weekend made me realize that I wasn’t ready for all that marriage entails. I wish Caroline all the happiness she deserves and thank her for the great times we’ve had."
The Danish tennis star later met former NBA player David Lee, and the couple quickly formed a strong bond. They tied the knot shortly after and have since enjoyed a supportive and loving relationship.
When Caroline Wozniacki revealed how supportive her husband David Lee was of her decision to return to tennis
Caroline Wozniacki married David Lee in 2019 and hung up her racket after the Australian Open in 2020. The couple welcomed their daughter Olivia in 2021 and son James in 2022 before the Dane decided to return to tennis in 2023.
In an interview with Vogue, she revealed that Lee supported her decision.
"It would have been easy for him to say, ‘We’re living a great life, we’re chilling, let’s just sit back and enjoy.’ But instead, he was like ‘Go for it, I’m here to support you and we’ll figure it out as a family. We’ll do it together and we’ll have fun doing it.’"
Wozniacki has been on tour for over a year and has been balancing motherhood with her tennis career. The former World No. 1 has played 29 matches so far in 2024, winning 16 of them. Her best performance was reaching the quarterfinals at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.
Caroline Wozniacki's last tournament was the US Open, where she reached the fourth round before losing to 22nd seed Beatriz Haddad Maia. The Dane will end 2024 as the World No. 72.
