Carlos Alcaraz and Coco Gauff's French Open victories raked in big viewership numbers for TNT Sports in its inaugural coverage of the Grand Slam event in the US. The women's final had a viewership of over one million, while the men's final had a viewership of over two million.
World No. 2 Gauff rallied from a set down to defeat World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka 6-7, 6-2, 6-4 on Saturday, June 8. It was a stellar second Grand Slam victory for the American after the 2023 US Open. The match drew 1.5 million average viewers on TNT Sports and was the most watched French Open women's final across channels since Garbine Muguruza defeated Serena Williams in 2016.
Carlos Alcaraz defeated World No. 1 Jannik Sinner in an epic showdown on Sunday, June 9, to lift the French Open trophy for the second time in a row. The Spaniard bounced back from two sets down to eventually close the match 4-6, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 7-6 in his favor. The five hours and 29 minutes marathon-of-a-match was also the longest final in French Open history. It drew 1.8 million average viewers on TNT Sports. It surpassed the figures of the most-watched French Open final in the US - Novak Djokovic's victory over Andy Murray for the 2016 Roland Garros title.
With both finals crossing the one-million mark in viewership, the numbers are comparable to TNT’s viewership of UEFA Champions League and Premier League matches in 2024.
