Novak Djokovic's ex-coach and tennis legend Boris Becker hailed the Serb's second-round performance at the 2024 French Open. The Serb took out Roberto Carballes Baena in straight sets (6-4, 6-1, 6-2) in two hours and four minutes.
The World No.1, who had a phenomenal season last year has seen a sudden dip in form this year. He hasn't won a single title in 2024 yet and exited many tournaments in the early stages.
The Serb kicked off his European clay court swing at the Monte-Carlo Masters this year where he was defeated by Casper Ruud in the semifinals. However, a shocking upset brewed at the Italian Open when the Serb was defeated by Alejandro Tabilo comfortably in straight sets in the third round.
He played the Geneva Open next to get some playing time on clay but was dealt with another shocking defeat by Tomas Machac in the Final 4. There were a lot of concerns surrounding the 37-year-old's form coming into the Paris Major.
However, Djokovic is off to a flying start defeating Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Roberto Carballes Baena in straight sets in the opening two rounds. A tennis journalist posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the top seed's performance in the second round was one of his best of the year.
The Serb's former coach and tennis legend Boris Becker, with whom he won six Grand Slams, two Nitto ATP Finals, and 14 ATP Masters 1000 titles, reposted the journalist's court and said that Schatzi (a term used by Germans to show affection) was playing better and better as he moved on.
"Schatzi is getting better with each match …," Becker posted.
Novak Djokovic will play the winner of the match between Lorenzo Musetti and Gael Monfils next

Though Djokovic hasn't been having the best of his years, he is still considered a huge favorite by many to lift La Coupe de Mousquetaires for the fourth time in his career. He has had a great start to his campaign and awaits the winner of the match between Lorenzo Musetti and Gael Monfils in the third round next.
The Serb hasn't had much trouble facing either player throughout his career. Against Musetti, he has a favorable 4-1 lead (2-1 on clay). Their most recent meeting was in the fourth round of the Monte-Carlo Masters where Musetti was handed a straight-set defeat.
On the other hand, the World No. 1 holds a staggering 19-0 record against Monfils, which is the highest undefeated head-to-head lead in tennis. They played in the fourth round of the Cincinnati Open last year which ended in a straight-set defeat for the French.
