Novak Djokovic's wife, Jelena, hilariously reacted to an airline commercial featuring the Serb playing tennis alongside two flight attendants. Teasing him, she jokingly referred to herself as his "plus-three."
As the 37-year-old concluded his 2024 season, marked by a mix of highs and lows, he has already set his sights on the next year. On the court, he welcomed his former rival Andy Murray as his new coach. Off the court, he forged a new partnership by becoming an ambassador for Qatar Airways.
On Thursday (Nov. 28), Qatar Airways shared a warm welcome message on Instagram for the 23-time Grand Slam champion, saying:
“Welcome aboard @djokernole Champion of the court champions of the sky #QatarAirways”
After the post was made, Novak Djokovic’s wife, Jelena, shared the commercial on her Instagram story. The video featured the former World No.1 playing tennis alongside two flight attendants dressed in burgundy suits. In her witty caption, she joked:
“Yeyyyy happy to be your +3”
On the court this season, Djokovic's standout achievement was capturing the elusive gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, the only accolade missing from his illustrious career. He also reached the finals of both the Wimbledon Championships and the Shanghai Masters, but lost both the summit clashes.
Novak Djokovic joins Emma Raducanu and Ons Jabeur as tennis stars with sponsorship deals in the airline industry
Novak Djokovic has expanded his portfolio of sponsorship deals which includes ASICS, Lacoste, Hublot, Raiffeisen Bank International and more by adding Qatar Airways to his list of ambassadorial duties.
Tennis stars Emma Raducanu and Ons Jabeur have also represented airlines as ambassadors over the years.
In 2021, then-18-year-old Emma Raducanu defeated Leylah Fernandez in the US Open final, becoming the first British woman to win a Grand Slam since Virginia Wade in 1977. Her victory made her a highly sought-after figure for endorsements. Just three months after her Grand Slam victory, Raducanu was unveiled as a British Airways ambassador.
Similarly, three-time Grand Slam finalist Ons Jabeur has a sponsorship deal with Qatar Airways. After making history as the first Arab player to reach a Grand Slam quarterfinal at the 2020 Australian Open, Jabeur's remarkable achievements attracted sponsorship from the airline.
During the 2024 season, Novak Djokovic earned $4,421,915 in on-court earnings. He amassed $25 million off the court, as Forbes reported in August 2024. This placed him at No. 2 on the list of highest off-court earners in tennis, trailing only Carlos Alcaraz, who claimed the top spot.
