“Here we go” - Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian expresses excitement for tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee’s latest sneaker launch

Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian recently expressed his enthusiasm for tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee, aka MKBHD, and his latest sneaker release, the 'Atoms Model 251 Low.' The limited edition sneaker, created in collaboration with New York-based sneaker startup Atoms, pays homage to Brownlee’s first YouTube video.

Brownlee, one of the most influential tech YouTubers with over 19 million subscribers, first caught the attention of Atoms in 2020. After complimenting the company's face masks during the pandemic, Brownlee was approached by Atoms to explore a sneaker collaboration. The first iteration, the "M251," was launched in 2023, paying homage to his YouTube roots and rise in the digital world.

The sneaker model "251" refers to the length of Brownlee’s first YouTube video, a two-minute and 51-second clip from 14 years ago, marking the beginning of his journey as a creator. The success of this collaboration paved the way for the release of the low version of the sneakers in September 2024.

Alexis Ohanian shared Brownlee’s sneaker announcement post on X with the caption:

"HERE WE GO."

Crafted using 100 percent vegan and recyclable materials, it sports a combination of black mesh and synthetic leather. The antimicrobial copper-threaded lining prevents shoe odor, while the Atoms Stretch Laces make it easy to slip on and off. A distinctive red tab on the heel, embossed with the number “251,” pays tribute to his humble beginnings.

This public endorsement from Ohanian is not surprising, given his venture capital firm, Seven Seven Six (776), funded Brownlee and his startup, MKBHD Ventures, through the 776 Titans Fund in 2022.

MrBeast, who boasts the most subscribed channel on YouTube with 316 million subscribers, is renowned for his videos that feature elaborate settings and complex tasks, where successful participants win substantial prizes.

Ohanian took to X to commend MrBeast on this notable achievement.

During his TIME100 interview, Donaldson discussed the intricacies of managing his YouTube empire and entrepreneurial ventures.
