Daniil Medvedev recently revealed heartwarming details about his newborn daughter after winning the ABN AMRO Open title in Rotterdam.
Medvedev defeated Sinner 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 on Sunday, February 19 to win the ABN AMRO World Indoor Tournament title in Rotterdam, his first tournament victory of 2023.
The former world No. 1 was trailing the Italian, who was aiming for back-to-back titles after winning at Montpellier last weekend, by a set. But he was at his tenacious best and heaved his way back to his 16th Tour victory.
Following his title win, Daniil Medvedev revealed in his victory speech that his wife, Daria Medvedev, placed their four-month-old daughter in front of the television during his semi-final on-court interview, and the newborn began smiling and laughing.
The Russian also expressed hope that his daughter would do the same when he delivered the victory speech.
"Yesterday, my wife told me that when I was giving the speech on the court, she put my daughter, who is 4 months old in front of the TV and she started smiling and laughing so, I hope she is doing this now also," Medvedev said.

In his victory speech, Daniil Medvedev stated that the match was "mentally tough" for both him and Jannik Sinner, adding that while he initially played "worse" than the Italian, he gradually found his rhythm and managed to continue "mentally pushing" his opponent until the end of the match.
"It was a very tough match, I would say mentally for both of us, I think. Jannik [Sinner] was on top of me, especially in the first part of the first set. I managed to come back into the set even though, in my opinion, I was playing worse than him. Maybe that gave me some time to find my rhythm," Medvedev said.
"I started playing just a little bit more offensive on a few shots, and it managed to work well at the beginning of the second set. I just managed to continue pushing him mentally down until the end of the match," he added.
The Russian added that it was "mentally tough" for him to return after falling out of the ATP top 10 rankings, but he is "happy" to have found his form and is looking forward to the next tournament to continue in this manner.
"Mentally it’s tough to come back after you [drop out] of the Top 10. I’m just happy to find my form and am looking forward to the next tournament and hopefully I can continue in this way," Medvedev said.
