Dominic Thiem has stated that there is a chance he could once again sport blonde tips in his hair.

The Austrian established himself as one of the best players in the world in his prime and was particularly impressive once he broke into the top 10 of the ATP rankings. There was also a period during his peak when he had blonde tips in his hair.

Thiem recently appeared on Eurosport's "Ruud Talk" podcast with Casper Ruud and Barbara Schett. Ruud read out a few questions that were asked by fans, with one wanting to know when Thiem would be back with blonde tips.

The 29-year-old replied by saying that he often thinks about them while at his hairdresser's. Thiem claimed that while he wasn't completely sure, there was a chance of the blonde tips making a return.

"I played very well with those blonde tips," Dominic Thiem said.
"I am thinking about it constantly and everytime when I am at the hairdresser, I am thinking about it, 'Should I tell to the hairdresser, shouldn't I?' It's constantly on the edge, you know, to get it back and I cannot promise it 100%, but it's possible that it comes again very soon."

He also named some of his most memorable performances when his hair was either completely blonde or he had blonde tips. This included winning the Croatia Open and Swiss Open in 2015, and reaching the Australian Open final in 2020.

"The first time I did it and I was completely blonde, I won Umag and Gstaad, and the last time I was blonde, I played Australian Open finals, so I’m always playing well with the blonde hair," he added.

Dominic Thiem lost to Rafael Nadal in two successive French Open finals in 2018 and 2019. The Austrian said that the second defeat hurt him as he entered the match believing he would win and was on top of his game.

"One time was very, was not nice for me - the finals of 2019. I was going into the match with the belief to win, honestly. I was basically on the top of my game I was physically in a great shape. I had beaten him in Barcelona some weeks before – quite solid," Dominic Thiem said.
"Coming from beating Novak (Djokovic) in the semis and playing really, really well, and he just raised his level and it was – I was desperate – I really have to say that. First two sets I still could hold it, somehow that goes 3-6, 7-5 and then set three, and four, 1-6, 1-6," he added.

Thiem most recently suffered an opening-round defeat against Adrian Mannarino at the Indian Wells Masters, losing 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5). He will next compete at the Miami Masters, where he is a wildcard.
