Serena Williams recently shared pictures from her farm and highlighted her journey from humble beginnings in Compton. Williams was born in Compton, California, where she began her tennis career. She and her sister Venus Williams practiced on public courts in Compton during the start of their careers.
Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian proudly own a sprawling farm in Florida. The couple's farm houses many animals, such as horses, chickens, and a steer, and grows fruits and vegetables. It also has a tennis court attached to it.
Recently, the American shared some pictures from her farm with some horses. In the picture, she was seen wearing a black dress and complementary shoes. Williams also shed light on her humble beginning, mentioning how far she has come from 'Compton to the country'.
"...from Compton to Country," Williams wrote.
In February 2023, Williams was joined by her husband Alexis Ohanian as the couple showed off their farm during an interview with CBS Mornings. They took host Gayle King on a tour across their farm, showing her the livestock they domesticate and the fruits and vegetables they grow.

Serena Williams takes a trip 'down memory lane'; shares stories about early life

Serena Williams laid bare the trials and tribulations of her early life in a documentary on ESPN+ titled In the Arena. The eight-part docu-series will share intimate details of her childhood, family and career.
Talking about the documentary to Harper Bazaar, the American stated the reasons behind agreeing to open up about her life in a docu-series. She said that during her tennis career, she was focused on winning and never thought about sharing her story.
“I’ve never really been able to dive into the intimate moments, because tennis is so intense, and I was so intense and so focused and not really thinking about a deeper story. I was just thinking about … winning. I never really went down memory lane; I always felt like I wanted to stay focused and continue to do the task at hand. So it was nice to take a deep breath and then tell a story that has never been told before,” Serena Williams said.
The 42-year-old also talked about being treated more harshly than others, due to her color,
"Oh gosh, especially me in tennis—and I get into that in a different story, but [that project is coming] in a few years. But I was judged way more harshly than people that have done the same [thing]. I don’t know, but I think I had the biggest fine in the sport," she said.
Serena Williams retired from tennis in 2022 after losing in the third round at the US Open.
