Novak Djokovic's wife Jelena expresses pride as Team Serbia  narrowly lose out to favorites USA in Paris Olympics men's basketball SF

Novak Djokovic's wife Jelena praised Team Serbia's brave performance during their heartbreaking defeat to the favorites Team USA in the semifinals of the 2024 Paris Olympics basketball match. The team led by Bogdan Bogdanovic fell to the LeBron James-led side in a match that went down to the wire.

Team USA, widely considered the favorite to win gold at the event, was placed in Group C alongside Serbia, South Sudan, and Puerto Rico. They managed to dominate the field, winning all three of their matches including a 110-84 against Team Serbia. On the other hand, the Serbs managed to win their remaining two matches to reach the quarterfinals.

While Team USA decimated Team Brazil in the quarterfinals 122-87, Team Serbia narrowly survived Team Australia 95-90 to set up a rematch with the Americans.

Team Serbia came out guns blazing in the semifinals against the favorites with captain Bogdanovic and star player Nikola Jokic leading the charge and had a significant eight-point lead after the first quarter. They extended their lead further by two points in the second quarter and by another three points in the third. Leading 76-63, Serbia looked to be on the brink of causing a major upset.

However, Joel Embiid's push towards the end helped the Americans stage an incredible comeback and they tied the game with three and a half minutes to go. Team USA continued their push to finally turn the game around for good and won the match 95-91. Steph Curry scored an incredible 36 points in the match, with LeBron James scoring 16.

On the other hand, Serbia's valiant efforts were led by captain Bogdanovic who scored 20 points, and Jokic with 17 points.

Novak Djokovic's wife Jelena took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her pride in Team Serbia's performance.

"We are proud! 🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻," she tweeted.

Novak Djokovic, much like his wife Jelena, also commended Team Serbia's performance in the semifinals of basketball at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The Serb took to Instagram to reshare a post by "Telesport Serbia" and wrote the word 'Pride' in Serbian on his story, accompanied by a flag of his Nation.

However, all's not over for Team Serbia as they await Germany in the clash for bronze, while USA faces home favorites France in the gold medal clash.

After finally winning the elusive gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Djokovic has withdrawn from the Cincinnati Masters where he was the defending champion.
