Elena Rybakina defeated Aryna Sabalenka in the BNP Paribas Open final in Indian Wells to win her first WTA 1000 title. She rose to a career-high ranking of World No. 7 following her win.

Elena Rybakina's older sister Anna accompanied her to the tournament and was visibly animated during key moments in the thrilling final.

A Twitter user criticized the Kazakh's sister for her passionate reactions during the final for being too over the top. They opined that Anna Rybakina's theatrical nature could potentially become a "liability" for the World No. 7's team in the near future.

"Rybakina’s sister will become a liability for her team very soon. Way too theatrical and unhinged anytime the she thinks she might be on camera…," the user wrote.

Tennis fans were quick to lambast the user for their take on the situation. One fan questioned how her sister's enthusiasm would in any way cause a disadvantage to Rybakina in the future.

"And how is that a liability for her team? how does it affect anything in any way??, the fan wrote.

Another fan pointed out how there was no pleasing certain fans regardless of the amount of emotion on display.

"People: Elena needs to show more emotion! Other people: Elena's sister is showing too much emotion!," the fan mentioned.
"Officially the worst take from Indian Wells," another fan chimed in.

Here are some more fan reactions to the claim that Elena Rybakina's sister Anna could become a liability to her team in the future:

Elena Rybakina was very appreciative of her sister Anna's support throughout her career. During the post-match press conference, the Kazakh stated that whenever her sister accompanies her to events, she tends to have good results.

"Every time she's coming with me it's always good results. Whether it was the win at Wimbledon, the whole family came to the final of the Australian Open, and she's here with me, so it's a win again. It's really nice to be around her," she said.

Rybakina also mentioned how her sister Anna exudes a calming energy around her, despite her emotional reactions while spectating from the players box.

"Actually, when she talks to me she's very calm, but then I see all these videos during the matches and I'm like, what were you doing? She's very emotional and she supports me a lot," she added.

Elena Rybakina will take on the winner of the match between Anna Kalinskaya and Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva in the Round of 64 at the 2023 Miami Open, following a bye in the first round.
