Agassi's incredibly successful career as a player consisted of many phenomenal runs at the U.S Open. His first victorious run at the event came in 1994 when he became the first unseeded player to clinch the men's singles title at the Grand Slam. His advance to the top of the podium saw him take down multiple seeded players.

Five years after that win, Agassi reclaimed his US Open throne in 1999, making a dramatic comeback from a few difficult seasons on and off the court. The American’s last professional appearance at the event came in 2006, but he returned to the courts of the Arthur Ashe Stadium this year for several Fan Week festivities ahead of the actual competition. The 58-year-old also took part in an exhibition match, pairing up with Spain's Carlos Alcaraz to play John McEnroe and Novak Djokovic.

Away from the court, Andre Agassi caught up with 2013 Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli, who was present at the Grand Slam as part of Sky Sports' team. Bartoli's husband, Yahya Boumediene, shared a picture of the couple's young daughter spending time with the tennis legend in New York.

Andre Agassi reminisces on his experiences playing at the Arthur Ashe Stadium after US Open exhibition match

For Andre Agassi, the courts of the Arthur Ashe Stadium hold some special memories. Reflecting on his time playing in the courts of New York as a professional, the American stated that playing in New York required a lot of energy, often causing him to go into a ‘meditative state’ before his match.

"There were so many years here where I was the opening night match. I liked it. As a player, it got your full attention, you shut out the city—you can get lost in that—you go into your meditative state pretty much all day, saving up all the emotional, physical and mental energy you're going to need,” he was quoted as saying by the US Open website.

Outside of his two title runs at the US Open, Andre Agassi made it to the finals six times. Additionally, in his 21 appearances at the event, he qualified for ten semifinals.
