Marion Bartoli: A Brief Biography

Marion Bartoli is a French professional tennis player and the current French no. 1. Besides being a 2007 World Championships runner-up, she has also won seven Women\'s Tennis Association singles titles and three doubles titles to her credit. She is noted for her style of using both her hands on both her forehand and backhand. Bartoli is quite intense, aggresive and hard hitting on the court and she employs unorthadox techniques while playing. She started her senior professional debut in 2003 by making it to the WTA semifinals in the Canberra Women\'s Classic. In 2004 she partnered with Émilie Loit and won her first WTA tour doubles title in Casablanca followed by another doubles title in the following year in Pattaya City. She won her first senior title at the ASB Classic in Auckland in 2006 and went on to win her third career doubles title by capturing the ECM Prague Open. Bartoli won her fourth career title at the Monterrey Open in 2009 and took home the title in her first ever US Open Series. Bartoli has defeated three reigning world number 1 players in her career so far: Justine Henin, Victoria Azarenka and Jelena Jankovic.
