Unlike Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz admitted that the monetary incentive influenced his decision to participate in the Six Kings Slam. The Italian, on the other hand, claimed that he did not play for money although the financial incentives were a bonus. Fans reacted with admiration for Alcaraz's honesty and humor when compared to Sinner's answer.

The Six Kings Slam exhibition event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, provided a huge payday to each of its six participants. Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, and Holger Rune earned $1.5 million for participating in the event. Sinner, the winner of the event, won $6 million.

In an interview with Eurosport, Sinner claimed that he did not play for money. He admitted that the financial incentive was a great bonus but he played the event to "measure" himself against "possibly the best players in the world."

At the Paris Masters press conference, Alcaraz was informed about Sinner's answer and asked about his motivation to participate in the exhibition. He admitted that he plays out of passion but acknowledged Saudi Arabia's record prize money as motivation.

"Well, I mean, if I say (smiling), I went there just for fun or to play and forget the money, I'm gonna lie. That's obviously -- I mean, every person work for that, as well. You know, that's how life is about," Alcaraz said.

Many fans appreciated Alcaraz’s straightforwardness.

"The entire press was fun and lighthearted, he was equal measures self-deprecating and self-aware about himself. Honest and candid of Carlos as per usual. The cash prize at Saudi was an incentive and there's no point pretending otherwise," one fan wrote.
