Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul recently spilled the beans about their experience at the Olympic Village during the 2024 Paris Olympics. The duo won the bronze medal in men's doubles against Czech pair Adam Pavlasek and Tomas Machac.

Fritz and Paul were two of the few athletes who lived in the Olympic village. Many tennis players, including Novak Djokovic, opted for the privacy and luxury of a hotel.

Both living arrangements have their pros and cons, with many athletes preferring the tranquility of a hotel to the hustle and bustle of the village. However, staying in the village provides a unique opportunity to interact with some of the world's top athletes.

Fritz and Paul shared their experience of the shared arrangement in a video for Tennis Channel, with the former revealing that the conditions weren't the best. He added that the rooms were small, with two players sharing one.

"I mean the living conditions aren’t like the most amazing, you know, like me and Tommy, splitting a room. Like that’s like the tiniest room ever with twin-sized beds. The bed itself, it was really firm. I actually, to be honest, I slept great. But I can see how a lot of people might have issues with it," Fritz said.

The 2022 Indian Wells Masters champion heaped praise on his old friend and doubles partner Paul, complimenting his orderliness.

"He’s [Tommy] actually a great roommate. He is actually really neat and clean. The whole time, I was like, I feel like I was grinding really hard to keep my stuff organized and keep my area under control. Because I am pretty messy," the 26-year-old said.

Paul, on the other hand, revealed that he and Fritz have been roommates since they were 14, and joked that Fritz's messy habits haven't changed one bit.

"We’ve been rooming with each other since we were 14 years old. In South Florida, he would come down and he would stay in the dorms. He would come in for weeks at a time, make my room really messy, and then leave and nothing’s really changed," Paul, 27, said.

In the same interview with Tennis Channel, Taylor Fritz stated that it was a good experience to be around the best athletes in the Olympic village during the Paris Olympics 2024.

"I think it was like a cool experience, to be able to just like I guess see all the other athletes like everyone around you is obviously, one of the best in their respective field," Fritz said.

Paul revealed that there was a friendly banter between the players who stayed in the village and the players who left for hotels.

"It’s the experience that you go in there for all the stories that you leave with. We had like a little battle. Half the guys stayed in the village, and then the other half left. We were staying, we were digging deep in the village. So it was like the guys who were digging deep and the silver spooners. So we were having a little battle in the practice with that," Paul said.

Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul will next be seen at the 2024 US Open after early exits from the Cincinnati Open. Fritz lost to Brandon Nakashima, while Paul was defeated by Flavio Cobolli.
