Day 8 of the US Open will see some thrilling encounters, with top seeds Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek aiming to book their spots in the quarterfinals. While Sinner will face 14th Tommy Paul, Swiatek will lock horns with 16th seed Liudmila Samsonova.
The likes of sixth seed Jessica Pegula and fifth seed Daniil Medvedev will also be in action, taking on 18th seed Diana Shnaider and Nuno Borges respectively.

Jasmine Paolini reached the final of the last two Grand Slams at French Open and Wimbledon, and has started well so far at the US Open. The Italian now faces a tough challenge against last year's semifinalist Karolina Muchova for a place in the quarterfinals.

The two players previously met on three occasions, with Muchova winning all three. While Paolini has had a breakout season, the Czech has won all of her three matches at the New York Major in straight sets. Hence, we could have a thrilling fixture on our hands.
#2 Jessica Pegula vs Diana Shnaider
World No.6 Jessica Pegula is set to take on 18th seed Diana Shnaider in the round of 16 at US Ope 2024. Pegula has started the tournament in dominant form and has not lost a single set so far. She defeated Jessica Bouzas Maneiro 6-3, 6-3 to enter the fourth round.
World No. 18 Shnaider has dropped just 13 games en route to her maiden fourth-round appearance at a Grand Slam. The Russian triumphed 6-2, 6-2 over former top-five player Sara Errani in the third round.
The only prior encounter between Pegula and Shnaider came in the semifinals of the Canadian Open, with the American winning 6-4, 6-3.
Diana Shnaider has had an impressive season so far, winning three titles, including one at the WTA 500 level. Pegula's recent run of form has been nothing short of terrific, having won the Canadian Open and finished runner-up at the Cincinnati Open.
#1 Jannik Sinner vs Tommy Paul
World No.1 Jannik Sinner is set to take on World No.14 Tommy Paul in the Round of 16 of the US Open after defeating Christopher O'Connell 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 in the third round. Sinner has maintained a 90% win rate this year and is now the favorite to go all the way in this year's US Open.
On the other hand, Paul won over Canada's Gabriel Diallo in four sets 6-7, 6-3, 6-1, 7-6. Paul and Sinner have met on three previous occasions, with Sinner winning twice and Paul just once. However, Paul has a strong forehand and agility in court coverage to counter Sinner's accurate shots, making this fixture one to watch today.
