A first-round match at the 2024 NO Open, a Challenger-level tennis tournament in Tulln, Austria, between Zsombor Piros and Marko Topo, descended into chaos after both players exhibited intense emotions. The match took place on September 3.

Zsombor Piros of Hungary was the fourth seed in Tulln. Meanwhile, Marko Topo, a German tennis player, qualified for the main draw. Topo captured the first set by breaking Piros' serve once. The German clinched the match in straight sets, winning 6-4, 7-6 (5) after prevailing in the second-set tiebreaker. As Topo converted the match point, all hell broke loose as Piros erupted in frustration, violently smashing his racket with one massive whack on the court.

Across the net, Topo let out a massive scream upon winning the match. Additionally, the German made a gesture to mock the Hungarian for excessive talking during the match. The duo did not even shake hands. Topo continued his mockery of Piros, even breaking into a song.

Tulln is one of six tennis Challenger events underway during second week of US Open 2024

While the sporting world is currently glued to the high-quality action at the 2024 US Open, several other Challenger tournaments are underway. A total of six Challenger tournaments are being held simultaneously with the second week of the 2024 US Open. The NO Open in Tulln is one of these tournaments, headlined by Vit Kopriva.

The AON Open Challenger in Genoa, Italy, and Copa Sevilla in Seville, Spain, are the most prominent Challenger tournaments during the second week of the 2024 US Open. Thiago Seyboth Wild, Thiago Monteiro, and Jaume Munar are the highest-ranked players in action in Genoa. Meanwhile, Roberto Carballes Baena, Federico Coria, and Danie Altmaier are playing in Seville.

Other Challenger tournaments currently underway are the Shanghai Challenger with Cristian Garin as the top seed, the Cassis Open Provence with Constant Lestienne as the No. 1 seed, and the Istanbul Challenger headlined by Damir Dzhumur.

Many prominent tennis players who are not part of the 2024 US Open are playing in Challenger tournaments this week, with 2014 US Open champion Marin Cilic, Richard Gasquet, and Kyle Edmund featuring in Cassis.
