Novak Djokovic's wife Jelena was elated as the Serb won the gold medal in the men's singles at the Paris Olympics 2024. She also thanked the fans for their unrelenting support.
The Serb won the gold medal in a high-intensity match against Carlos Alcaraz. The match lasted close to three hours and did not feature any break of serve. The Serb won the match 7-6(3), 7-6(2) to clinch the gold medal on his fifth try.
The World No. 2 was overwhelmed with emotions and wept uncontrollably after the match. He also celebrated with his team and family, including his wife Jelena, son Stefan and daughter Tara.
Later, his wife Jelena took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her joy as her husband achieved a historic feat. She congratulated 'Nole fam', a name that Novak Djokovic fans are known by, and thanked them for their support.
"Congratulations #Nolefam what a day for all of us!!!! so many of you from all over the world chanting in unison and cheering on @djokernole. We did it!!!!"
She also expressed delight that many Serbian flags were seen at the Court Philippe-Chatrier during the final.
"How many Serbian flags were flying today. Pride," she said (translated from Serbian).
Jelena also adorably said that the Serb was 'gold', irrespective of how the match would have turned out.
"Our dad is all gold, with or without a medal around his neck let's go," she wrote (translated from Serbian).

Novak Djokovic said that winning the Olympic gold medal is the biggest success of his career. In an on-court interview, the Serb said he was elated and proud of himself after clinching the gold medal.
“I’m overwhelmed with everything that I’m feeling right now. Millions of different emotions, of course: positive, too proud, too happy. The possibility to fight for a gold and to win a gold for the first time in my career for my country is arguably the biggest success I ever had," he said.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion added that his 'puzzle' was complete as he completed the career Golden Slam after winning the Olympics that had eluded him for 16 years.
"Winning Davis Cup and particularly the golden medal at an Olympic Games for Serbia at the age of thirty-seven is unprecedented. Yes, [my] puzzle, it is [complete]. I’m super grateful for the blessing to win a historic gold medal for my country, to complete the Golden Slam, to complete all the records,” he said.
With Novak Djokovic clinching the gold medal, Carlos Alcaraz settled for silver, while Lorenzo Musetti won the bronze medal.
