Novak Djokoivc's wife Jelena recently joined in on Andy Murray's joke about 'never liking' tennis after the Brit's retirement at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Brit had announced on his arrival in Paris that his campaign at the prestigious event would be the final one of his career.
Murray teamed up with Dan Evans for doubles and the duo kicked off their campaign against the Japanese duo of Taro Daniel and Kei Nishikori. They saved five match points in a topsy-turvy encounter to defeat the Japanese 2-6, 7-6(5), 11-9.
The Brit pairing then defeated Belgium's Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen in yet another thriller saving two match points 6-3, 6-7(8), 11-9 to reach the quarterfinals where they met third seed Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul from Team USA. The American duo comfortably ousted Murray and Evans 6-2, 6-4 in an hour and 16 minutes.
The defeat marked the end of Andy Murray's illustrious career, who took to X and joked that he 'never liked' tennis.
"Never even liked tennis anyway."
Novak Djokovic's wife Jelena also got in on the joke and sarcastically tweeted:
"Yeah. We could tell 😉🙌🏼"
Ahead of the tournament's start, Murray had posted a few photos together with Novak Djokovic from different periods in their careers on Instagram.
"Rivals, doubles partners, friends and lovers?(see slide 3💋) Thanks for the 25 years of competition @djokernole and good luck for rest of your career 👏👏" Murray captioned it.
Jelena expressed her love for the post in the comments section.
"Love this❤❤❤," Jelena commented.
