Emma Raducanu booked her place in the third round of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells with a 7-6(3), 6-2 win over 20th seed Magda Linette.

Raducanu didn't have the best of starts to the match as she trailed 4-1 in the opening set. However, she fought back and went on to win it via a tiebreak before dominating the second set.

This was the first time that the 20-year-old has won multiple matches at a WTA 1000 tournament and only the second time that she has done so in a WTA 500 event or higher since winning the 2021 US Open.

Tennis fans were delighted with the Brit's victory and took to Twitter to laud her efforts. One fan claimed that Emma Raducanu would have easily been a top-10 player if not for her numerous injuries.

"Let’s be real, without any injuries, she’s easily a top 10 player," their tweet read.

One fan expressed their pleasure at seeing Raducanu "playing well and smiling" again.

"Sooooo good to see. Raducanu playing well and smiling in front of a loud, packed stand," they wrote.

Another fan lauded Raducanu's efforts in overcoming good players like Magda Linette and Danka Kovinic despite injury concerns.

"Amidst concerns over the wrist and Tonsilitis before this tournament, that is 4 solid sets of tennis to beat 2 good opponents in Kovinic and Linette," their tweet read.

Emma Raducanu was delighted with her win over Magda Linette on Friday. In her post-match press conference, the Brit said that she was pleased with the way she fought while also lauding Linette for playing at a "really high level."

"Yeah, I was really pleased to have won today. I was the other day, as well. But as I said, I was so out of it, I didn't really know what was going on," Raducanu said.
"But today, yeah, I was so pleased with the way I fought because Magda played, like, really high level. Like some things that were working in the past weren't working today, and I adapted. Yeah, I was, yeah, just very, very pleased with how I fought and dug in," she added.

Raducanu is yet to drop a set at the BNP Paribas Open, having beaten Danka Kovinic 6-2, 6-3 in the first round. She will now face 13th seed Beatriz Haddad Maia in the third round. It will be the first meeting between the two players.
