Novak Djokovic named in Davis Cup squad against India

Novak Djokovic is an integral part of Serbia’s David Cup team

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has been included in the Serbian Davis Cup squad that will take on India in a World Group play-off tie from September 12-14 at the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA) stadium in Bangalore.

Djokovic is currently playing in the US Open. The other players to make it to the team include Dusan Lajovic, Filip Krajinovic and doubles specialist Nenad Zimonjic. The team will be captained by Bogdan Obradovic.

The Indian team is led by Somdev Devvarman and Yuki Bhambri, Rohan Bopanna and Saketh Myneni make up the squad. The team is coached by Zeeshan Ali.

It is a crucial tie as the winner will advance to the elite 16-nation World Group. Serbia won the Davis Cup in 2010 beating France 3-2 at the Belgrade arena.
